That's why I'm an Operator baw. No student loans and making 6 figures.

Funny thing is these kids think they want socialism until they learn a bit more about it.

What that poll shows is it's too bad the flaming abortion zealots weren't a lot more active 18-24 years ago, best pro-abort add yet.

They will change their mind when they start working and realize that they will have to pay for all this free stuff . Even democrats know this that’s why they need to import illegal immigrants.

When so many USA companies moved hq to Caymans and Switzerland kids learned that companies are raptors.

We can have social safety nets and capitalism.

If You Are Not a Liberal at 25, You Have No Heart. If You Are Not a Conservative at 35 You Have No Brain.

I believe this is a major reason why liberals/socialists need to expand government...to extend the age 25 to 35 and 45 (meaning they don't want people to grow up and be responsible for their actions).

Once people expect the government to take care of them (and frankly, I use the word "care" is a board sense), then the population will never get smart enough to realize they are sleeping in a bed of their own urine.

If the question was phrased as:

Do you support local, state, or federal government taking over small and large businesses to control the production, distribution, and exchange of goods?

You would get a very different answer. Republicans have diluted the meaning of the term "socialism" to include progressive tax systems.

Life will pull a good many of them back towards sanity. When they start holding real jobs and paying taxes to Uncle Sam, the vast majority of them will move back towards the center.

It always happens.

Except for 80s movies, nobody gave a single frick about Generation X. We didn't bitch or moan nearly as much as the generations on either side. We just went out in the world and got shite done.

I can telll you what I am doing about it...

My wife and I are friends with a couple that the husband is from Cuba and the wife is from the former Soviet Union. Just to hear either one of them talk for about 10 minutes is pretty eye opening.

They simply cannot understand why any country would willfully vote for this. Their personal stories are very interesting, so my wife arranged for them to speak at our daughter’s school.

It may not work, but I am sick and tired of bitching about it when I know that these people who espouse socialism are direct threat to every single thing that I hold dear.

Honest question.....what in the frick happened that caused this huge age divide?

I think it is because our nation has become so wealthy that the young expect to be living at the same standard of living they were at when mom and dad were paying for everything.

Our children mainly didn't have to work for things until they got out on their own and didn't understand that they weren't supposed to be just given things.

Tough to grow a nation full of capitalists when they are all still paying off their student debt. Gives them more incentive TO vote for free stuff.

The easy way to gain them back is with student debt reform and education reform, so that we can get more people on the profitable side of capitalism at a younger age.

Ok, and?

Yeah it's scary, and what are we (including myself) doing about it, other than bitching on a message board?

The harsh fact is that for all the shite we throw at liberals, specifically liberal progressives, they kick the shite out of Republicans in the long game. They've infiltrated the schools, government, everywhere in positions of authority and over time have reshaped and molded this country to their liking.

Our not too distant relatives fought for this country to never become a fascist, Socialist country, and what are we doing? Bitching on a message board. So brave.

And yeah we make jokes about having jobs, spending time hunting and fishing, etc. but if our contribution to this country is complaining on a message board, we'd just as soon give up. It's already over.

Downvote away.

Older folks grew up in an era of New Deal capitalism. Top marginal tax rates were really high compared to now, and the idea that "Government is evil" was far less prevalent. It was a softer form of capitalism. As we've moved away from liberal capitalism to a "purer" from, economic life has gotten harsher, and more alienating, for a lot people. The decline of unions exacerbates these trends. Bippity-bobbity-boo, Socialism seems a lot more appealing.

Silly kids. No long term threat. Check the rhetoric from the 60’s and early 70’s.
