Sure - I'd be okay with that but OP didn't mention banning it for welfare recipients only.

Ban? Lol.
The us govt subsidizes corn syrup. We are paying for more sugar to be added into the food stream artificially.

I agree. Able bodied people should provide for themselves or starve.

Also and I'm sure I'll get downvoted, we should ween anyone over the age of 7 or 8 from drinking milk
What?? Why?

After about 8 years old milk has no real benefit for you. As you get older it actually works against you. It is the main source of saturated fat. You go to Europe and you'll see that in places like France and Italy, kids are weened off milk and as adults don't drink it. They do use a lot of butter and cheese. But they drink a lot of red wine

Do a quick search of "US foods banned in other countries". The list is long, very long....it's amazing the amount of Trash that is consumed in the US, through food, and the poison that Big Pharma pushes on everyone. The food industry, Big Pharma, and Healthcare, all work together in a vicious cycle to keep people sick, while padding their pockets !
Here's a short list of a few popular foods banned in other countries......
Favorite American foods that are banned in other countries
Froot Loops. Banned in: France, Austria, Norway and Finland. ...
US chicken. Banned in: European Union. ...
Mountain Dew. Banned in: The European Union and Japan. ...
US milk. ...
Farmed salmon. ...
Maraschino cherries. ...
US apples. ...
Little Debbie Swiss Rolls.

quote:Exactly! A very high percentage of all corn grown in this country, is converted into this shite. On top of that, the ethanol is subsidized with YOUR tax dollars and makes your car get less MPG!
You are right but it won't happen. Follow the Money.

Could you imagine if Dems tried to ban High Fructose corn syrup.

No benefits besides calcium, protein, etc etc. And it's not 1975, saturated fats aren't the boogie man.

can’t we entice our elected officials to get the Burger Kings & McDonald’s of the world to produce slightly healthier products?
No because they have to be cheap too
If I wanted healthier I wouldn’t be there

Then they're more expensive...
Maybe people shouldn't expect the government to be our nanny. Maybe people should learn to make better choices. Insurance rates should reflect obesity.

Fructose is a killer, and shows up everywhere in food. This past week I had a HI-C fruit punch fountain drink three days in a row from a local fast-food restaurant, and by Wednesday night came down with the most agonizing, and disabling, attack of gout possible.
It turns out that fructose, in the heavy doses found in these drinks, can be mis-catabolized into purine/ uric acid by gout-susceptable individuals. Who knew?

Not in Italy. And cilantro, though commonplace as a roadside weed in that country, is not eaten in any region there.

Further, it's not simply processed foods because all foods are processed, unless you are biting them directly from the living plant or animal, it is the refined foods which are very highly processed and are the worst offenders. That includes drink.
Refined ingredients such as anything that comes in powder or granular form. The would preclude all sugars, sweeteners and sugar substitutes, all flours or even flour substitutes.
Just these alone eliminated from a persons diet would cure that person of most of their ills.
It's amazing that we still eat that stuff with all of the natural food that is available to us.

There are certain predominantly homogeneous white nations near the Arctic Circle that have completely banned the sale and consumption of all sodas due to most of them containing chemicals and dyes like Yellow 5 that are know to have significant negative short term and long term affects on humans.
Their overall national health is better than ours, too.
The foods we are being compelled to purchase and consume in the USA, are packed full of chemicals and artificial fillers that are causing an increase in sedentary behavior. It's by design. These agencies are fine with you consuming all the alcohol you want and eating nothing but fast food while you replace water with Dr. Pepper, but they want to be able to monitor people who grow their own healthy vegetable gardens for personal consumption.
Think about it.
