The histrionics of environmentalists is up there with Monty Python as far as comedy goes.

Even if this is true, eliminating CFCs was a lot more feasible and practicable than eliminating fossil fuels when there still aren't viable and affordable alternatives, which is where we are now.

Another liberal talking point from back in the day was saving the whales. But nowadays, whales are dying because of offshore windmills, and that's totally okay. Apparently, the whales only mattered before green energy was a thing.

Then it became polar bears. Have no clue what animal they've never seen they want to save today.

And there’s a good reason for that — it’s because human cooperation and swift policy change were extremely effective in fixing the problem.

You just gave the climate czar and green new deal all the ammo they need. "See it works"

Did exploding nuclear bombs have an effect on the ozone layer or any other aspects of the atmosphere? Does operating HARP and heating the ionosphere contribute to anything? Chlorofluorocarbons may have been a problem but what about other possibilities and fear mongering. Trust the science.

The spot is formed where the F5 CFC Vortex touches the ozone layer.

There is tons of ozone in major cities (a big part of smog). I suggested way back when to use cfc's in these cities to get rid of the smog.

No one listened to me. I assumed it was because I was like 10 at the time

lulz

The earlier predictions claimed
quote:

Models predict that the Antarctic ozone layer will mostly recover by 2040.

Now its 2060. Probably because after 19 years of recovery, we saw the largest hole ever in 2006. Then we observed only a 20% decrease in ozone depletion 2006 to 2016. So Now in 2023, we are 40 more years away from it recovering

lulz again

By 2060 it will have been moved to the year 3000. Despite all the laws and product changes that, well, changed nothing. Heres the receipts
quote:

2006 26.6
2007 22.0
2008 25.2
2009 22.0
2010 19.4
2011 14.7
2012 17.8
2013 21.0
2014 20.9
2015 25.6
2016 20.7
2017 17.4
2018 22.9
2019 9.3
2020 23.5
2021 23.3
2022 23.2

Ozone hole when we starting saving the planet in 1987 was 19.3. Now its 23.2, after 3 decades of work

Funny how the manmade ozone hole formed over one of the least populated areas on earth.

Last summer, false suggestions began circulating on social media that the panic about the hole in the ozone layer was unwarranted, and that the current urgency about the overheating of our planet is similarly unjustified

It was unwarranted.

It was not a coincidence that the "holes" were at the poles and got bigger and smaller depending on the time of year (i.e., amount of direct sunlight).

Because it’s old news.

Stand in an open field with no shirt on for an hour tomorrow. Report back afterwards.

In the 1980’s the closest thing to sun block was some sort of tanning oil. Kids played in the sun all day without getting sunburn.

You didn’t wear sun protection clothes or creams back then. I wonder what changed?

it`s always been a scam,if depleted ozone were an issue, make more and release it,it can be man made.every time
lightning strikes it creates ozone ,freon is a scam Dow is in on it.the biggest releasers of cfc`s are nuclear power plants, and are allowed to releas it directly into the air, whereas you AC guy has to contain it and recycle it.
