But really, what would have been different about this situation if the drivers had been uninsured citizens? The only difference is you wouldn't have a convenient scapegoat to make some shitty political point to try to distract yourself from your own poor financial and insurance coverage decisions.

fricking nailed it. Exactly what I was thinking when I read the OP.

That's fine if you want to believe you're right. Just telling you the truth. He needs UMPD or collision. Ask your agent.

So, something else law abiding, hard working people have to fork our money over for because of other people being in the wrong? Nice.

How will no amnesty make this situation better?

OP is clearly not from Louisiana or he'd be happy that the illegals probably won't sue him.

It works the same with underinsured drivers (which are in compliance with the laws)

Your choice not to have it but don't complain when you have to pay for repairs out of pocket because you decided to cheap out on insurance.

I think another point that he made that you failed to see was that these people did not have a driver's license and could not read or speak a bit of English. so they didn't just not have insurance. breaking multiple laws.

It's against the law to not read or speak a bit of English?

Well I'm sure glad my Italian ancestors got away with it when moving here from Italy. Otherwise I probably wouldn't exist and they'd have died in the clink.

I DO NOT welcome people who come here as foreign nationals who repatriate all their pay back to their home, who fail to follow our laws, speak our language, and have no desire to actually BECOME AMERICANS.

How do you know that these guys were not here to do just that..?

And it's not just uninsured motorists but collision. It's a bit pricey for 16 yr old male primary drivers. This was a several hundred dollar decision, not trivial at all.

Sounds like it was a several thousand dollar decision. I would rather pay $1000 a year than $9000. You gambled and lost to save a few bucks. The even worse thing is that your insurance is going to go up now too.

No insurance, no DL, failing to cooperate. Maybe those?

Glad your son is ok and sorry you both had to go through this.

Same thing happened to my wife about 7 years ago. She was heading down government street when a truck with four immigrant laborers pulled in front of her and she t-boned them.

She was uninjured but badly shaken up. Her car was a mess.

By the time I got there (before the cops had arrived), they were already under their truck, trying to get it working enough to drive to their job.

None spoke English. No licenses, no insurance and no one would admit to who was driving. (seems to be a pretty solid defense)

Anyway, the cops at the scene, "released them" into the custody of their employer.

My wife's car wasn't totaled but we were on the hook for about a grand.

Was a pretty crappy situation.

Goodness, the name calling... Nice being anonymous huh?

Your position on this is like if he were in a store that got robbed and the person robbing the store shot him.. you'd blame him for being in the store.

That's just it. The roads are dangerous enough as it is without adding a few million people who have no license, no insurance, and really no clue about our traffic laws.

I witnessed a fender bender in Houston last summer. A man who must have been illegal rear ended an old man at a red light. Old man got out to take a look and the guy who hit him got out of his car and just took off running. The old man seemed very baffled and did not know what to do.

Insurance agents that service their own policies have a fool for a client.

Doesn't amnesty allow them to take a test to prove they understand our traffic laws, get a license, and get insurance?
