That is only 20% of his hardware he could put on his jacket.

That is him being humble

Total pain in the arse to put that rack together. Then you have to make a medal rack, and maybe mini medals and ribbons for special events. Not cheap either. Get one device wrong and some a-hole is yelling stolen valor. Nightmare.

20th Century:

"Nimitz, go kick the Japanese teeth in and go home."

"Roger, sir."

21st century:

"Hey killer, go kick Sadam Hussein's teeth in."
"Now go to Haiti."
"No go patrol the oceans."
"Now go train every other country's navy in the world."
' I'm going to create a medal to look like I support you not getting into a bar fight in a third world country, put it on"
"Now go fight the Global War on Terror."
"Now go kick Sadam's teeth in, again."
"Now go to Afghanistan."
"Now go back to Haiti."
"Now go back to Iraq, again."
"I created a medal so I can look like I support the troops, put it on."

It’s about ego. Some of these guys look like Soviet era Field Marshals. It’s ridiculous.

It’s standard and possibly a requirement for official pictures. I doubt he wears them all on a daily basis.

I’d trade in all that BS for 1 CMH.

Then again, I’d likely be dead.

Did some digging into his rack, the top 6 or 7 rows are two ribbons each. IMO his bottom 4 rows should have 4 ribbons each and have a couple of rows of three before starting the twos. The rack he has looks rather ridiculous IMO.

The last personal rack I build had 3 rows of 4, one row of 3 and one row of two.

As far as the North Koreans are concerned, they are allowed to wear their father's decorations as well as their own. No telling what decorations they personally have.

Navy Uniform regulations 3 ribbons per row unless covered by lapel in which case you can reduce the number (as per the pic). Never saw anyone in the Navy try to get away with 4 in a row. Would have been interesting.
