They are more conservative than the majority of American states.
You don't know what the frick you're talking about, they would be more liberal than all but maybe 10 states, they would likely have 2 Dem Senators, at best you get a Murkowski or Collins
When polled in the last US election, Trump would have lost Alberta by double digits.
He was only up like 4%...among CONSERVATIVE Party voters.
The definitions of Conservative and Liberal in Canada are vastly different than here
You would have to see a mass exodus of more liberal Canadians fleeing to BC or the Eastern Provinces and American and Canadian "conservatives" fleeing in over the course of 20 years.

Very true. Although Calgary and the rest of southern Alberta would be considered moderate rebublicans in our system.

Quebec is beyond liberal. Highest taxes in Canada. Montreal would be on par with Portland or San Francisco in terms of their political and world views. The countryside and smaller towns will be more “conservative” but Quebec is a New England liberals wet dream. Ontario isn’t too far behind. Imagine if Ann Arbor Michigan morphed into a province. Toronto and Ottawa go out of their way in trying to out do each other in who is more welcoming to globalist left policies.

Why?
They align politically.
They have a massive GDP and extensive mineral reserves.

Make them a favored nation or a territory. Not a State any time soon unless you like Democrat Majority Senate for a very long time

fantastic rebuttal.
being so, I’ll chalk that down to the truth.

They’re literally scheduling a public referendum on secession in 2026. Quebec’s premier came out last week publicly supporting Alberta’s right to do so, and hinted at Quebec doing the same again.

Well, one of two things will happen: either the Alberta folks abandon their cause, or the PM will have to send troops like with the Truckers and put them down. Honestly, talk is just noise when it comes down to the big stuff. Raw brute force has always determined the rise and fall of Nations and cultures.
The option I expect to happen is they leverage Quebec for some stiff concessions.
If Alberta is in this I would be surprised if Saskatchewan didnt join them.
What worries me the most on this is we dont know where they will fall on the political scale… more left or more right because they would definitely tip or sway the balance of power in Congress.

I was told on here last week that the Alberta/Canadian Rockies thing would never happen in the post about the southeast holding most of the black population.
It’s going to happen. Maybe not in my lifetime, but eventually.

Quebec has been bringing up independence for as long as I can remember. All those French Canadians want to be their own country. I'll take Alberta though!

We get the pretty part and only pick up 4 mil people. Canada gets to keep the other 38 mil nuts and maple syrup.

Its all we have to go on, and it is consistent. Canadians do not have the same concept of conservative and liberal that we do.
Republicans would get their asses kicked as of now in every province in canada
Now, a secession would cause a large population shift so we can't tell the future on that

Do you think something as politically seismic as secession might change some political leanings? It's pretty easy to be "liberal" when your government hasn't lost its liberal mind and severely infringed speech, etc to the point you take radical action to free yourself.

Certainly, read the last sentence. We would see population shift and if added as an American territory, perhaps those people start align with American norms and values.
