Or is it more likely that he's just playing the long game knowing Trump holds all the cards right now?
I tend to take the long game position. If Xi sees a President Gavin Newscum and VP AOC in January of 2029, he knows they'll basically gift wrap the USA for him.

I haven't kept up with the Trump - Xinping meeting. I picked up bits and pieces from my wife.
But I did pick up, from her, the comment Xinping made in the opening remarks of his welcoming address - something about China is a 5000 year old civilization - you (USA) are only 250 years old. Ouch, in yo face America.

China considers the US an enemy and intends to overthrow our position in the world economy and we are still making deals with them.
We should be decoupling from that at every opportunity. Instead, we are looking at selling them our oil and doing further deals? Ugh.

He seems to have shifted from everything being BREAKING with the red light to "HOLY CRAP!" or "WOW!" at the beginning of every post. His analytics (since he's AI) have probably showed a 1% increase in engagement if he begins that way over BREAKING or some shite
