You can thank the Obama/Trump/Biden economy.

I haven't read this thread but heard a snippet from the arguments. Barrett will side with the liberals. May even be more conservatives siding with the liberals.

I don't expect Trump to win this

Which means the tariffs will unwind

Which means we owe back money already spent

Which means economy going to shitter

1. Tariffs are stupid in other countries too, because they make your citizenry pay more. Other countries love tariffs because their citizens love paying taxes.

2. VATs are not a tariff or a trade barrier. They are just a procedurally different method of collecting sales taxes. It would be like if Louisiana refused to do business with Texas because Texas has a sales tax.

Debatable

You think its debatable whether the constitution gives authority for the President to impose tariffs unilaterally?

Also, I do not know which way the court will go here. However, citing IPPEA was both fantastic lawyering and flimsy at best

Go read the article I cited. You are wrong and you are ignorant.

Why would a US company buying Chinese products want tariffs?
See this is why you need to bow out. You don't even understand the conversation. If you had read the article I sent you, you would know why this is a stupid statement. No one said anything about companies who buy steel wanting tariffs.

Until you start trying to learn, you are going to be impossible to converse with.

Sure I do.

Companies making import deals dont want tariffs, unless they are "too big to fail."

Since I am a respectful chap, do you prefer to be called "Big Business Afficianodo" or just plain Statist?

Remember when Obama care was just a tax even though everyone said it was not tax

Different type of analysis. That was over whether the law itself was Constittuional.

Why doesn't the same thing apply for Tariffs - there is a wall that justifies their use and gives the president the power to do it if he specifically said the wrong law that doesn't mean that it is unlawful if there is a right law to be applied

That system would just give unlimited powers to the President. How would we even know which "right law" is being applied?

The term youre looking for is "heavily subsidizes."

Its pretty fricking socialist

Trumps having the US buy stock in Intel is socialist.

OMG. The "Trump" economy was NOTHING like the other 2.

Second, it doesn't even matter. We are in this dire situation where manufacturing needs to return to domestic shores. It is a crisis and at least 1 adult is trying to fix it. He has to fight against brain dead tariff idiots like you who think there's not a problem and think that tariffs are "left" and necessarily lead to a command economy, which they don't.

When asked what your solution was, you said "stop having enemies."

What are the chances any of that garners 60+ votes in the Senate?

If it really is an issue of national security, then nuke the filibuster.

But in the real world, you just negotiate with the Dems to get them to go along. Maybe Trump doesn't get the exact tariffs he wanted, but that is how government works.

Trump's first term USMCA agreement was codified with - I think - 89 votes in the Senate. Granted, that treaty was anti-tariff, but it shows you can get bilateral support for foreign trade agreements that make sense.
