ALSO, building is not as easy now. I highly doubt he did everything to current code.

House is still standing today, strong as ever, and has only NEEDED roof replacement and the original AC unit replaced. All other stuff was upgrades. Zero other issues.

And BS building isn’t as easy. It’s WHERE you build. I can build right now and not have a single permit, fee, or inspection. And now you have YouTube with 5,000 videos on just how to install a faucet.

“Bu bu bu bu I can’t build like that in a subdivision where I have to buy a new SUV every three years and satisfy the millennial HOA Karen to fit in!” Well deal with that. It’s what u wanted.

Boomers had the laissez faire times...then buried their kids and grandkids in rules, taxes, fees etc when they took over power

Well since more and more millennials are involved in local government… there has been a movement to eliminate that. Right?

Right?

Also I think people need to factor in the rate of technological innovation thats taken place in the last 150 years. Smart phones wouldve wrecked previous generations attention spans and anxiety levels just like they have ours.

No but they did do it to Millennials and Gen X.

Millennials (and baby Gen X'ers) thankfully started a trend towards actually giving a shite about mental health. Gen Z is that pendulum swinging too far the other way.

I'd venture a guess that Gen Alpha and Gen Beta will see themselves in a good spot.

Inflation adjusted, it costs substantially more to buy a house, get a degree, and own a car today than it did for yall

bullschit, i bought my first house when i was 30 in 1991 for 92k so 220k in today's dollars that was a steal at the time because it needed a lot of work but it was in prime location for little rock an area called the heights. we had to replace the hvac, refinish the hard wood floors 1600 square feet 3 bedrooms 1 1/2 but the half bath was a converted pantry with a corner sink and if you sat down on the toilet you couldn't shut the door, we flipped the house two years later for 140k.

my son now 30, just bought 2 years ago top of the market in a very good part of little rock less that mile from my house, the area is called midtown it's were all the young hip married couples want to live, shopping dinning, etc. . he paid full asking which was 270k but he was flexible on closing so he got the house.
1700 sq ft. 3/2 great yard great patio cute little site built out building that could easily be converted to an office. updated kitchen, the lady left a brand new whirlpool refrigerator behind so he got a lot more house than i got.

We had no one spoon feeding us boomers. We worked we paid our taxes we paid our SS. Min wage was $1.35 and we didn’t bitch and moan we worked. If a job paid crap we left for a better paying job Tucker is part of the entitled brats generation and it shows now

Your anecdotal story may be true, but it is not true for the country as a whole

The median home price today is $435,000

The median home price in 1991 was $120,000. Inflation adjusted that would be $287,500

In this thread it's boomers after boomer talking about how awesome they are and how much millennials and Gen Z suck. Totally devoid of any empathy or humility

What's on brand is immediately confirming a lack of empathy in a response to my criticism of lack of empathy.

I hope all of the youngsters in this thread that have been brainwashed to hate a whole generation because the GOVERNMENT

fricked up the dollar
fricked up the debt
fricked up the job market
fricked up the cost of education
fricked up the cost of healthcare
fricked up Social Security

Aren’t out there voting for the socialists that promise to give you something for free.

Because that’s kind of what caused all of this in the first place.

ETA: and if you blame the boomers for voting in the crooks that did this…well they were young and stupid once too.

Not caring about someone's feeling isn't related to empathy, that's a valid opinion. Not understanding someone's feelings are and are demonstrative of the self-centered nature of the standard Boomer.

I earn a very healthy income such that I can keep my wife at home to raise and home school my large family. I am doing fine and don't need any empathy from boomers. However, I look to others in my generation and see how difficult it is to have the traditional Americana life style, and it's concerning for me and I feel for them

Who gives a shite about the empathy.

Its just obnoxious to see them beat their chest for no reason, they were given a golden goose and slaughtered it instead of being happy with the eggs

Their generation made a lot more money comparatively and had much cheaper "milestone" pricetags

1980:

Median salary: $17,710, inflation adjusted $73,426
Today: $61,984

Median home: $47,200, inflation adjusted $195,700
Today: $435,000

Median car: $7200, inflation adjusted $29,800
Today: $48,000

Median 4 year degree (total of 4 years): $3600, inflation adjusted $14,900
Today: $108,600

To have the same house, car, degree cost them $240,400 in todays dollars, and costs us $591,600

Their advice: stop drinking coffee and eating avocado
