Here’s a straight up easily digestible fact

quote:

In the five years after the FCC first proposed Title II (2010–15), investment dropped somewhere between $160-$200 billion relative to what it would have been projecting forward from 2005–10, when net neutrality alone was the baseline for investor expectations. Discouraging investment only exacerbates the Digital Divide?—?which is why Bill Clinton’s FCC Chairman Bill Kennard didn’t want to dump the “morass” of Title II on broadband and why Democrats like John Kerry and Ron Wyden opposed Title II back in the 1990s.

The irony of all those opposed to comcast Verizon etc is that requirements of regulation and reporting under title II prevent any small guy from entering the market and only allows companies as large as the aforementioned to pay for the large departments to keep them within the regulations

The fundamental failure of the NN types and for that matter, Americans in general when looking at large companies is this.

Despite history being replete with examples...........Americans cannot fathom how large companies can be overtaken.

There is a great video of Phil Donahue talking to Friedman in the early 80s in which Phil asks Friedman if the govt should be OK if Sears were to join with K-Mart(yeah, talk about prescient).

Phil could not conceive of even the IDEA that either of these companies could be competed with. WalMart wasn't even a figment of their imagination.

Moreover. Had you implied to Phil then that one day, this small company that was doing it's thing in Arkansas would one day overtake Sears and K-Mart, he and his ilk would have laughed you out of the room.

Now, this might have been excusable as a point of view in 1900. But in 2018, to still be unable to comprehend this reality is just ignorance.

Yup. There's 2 or 3 like him on this board.

They basically view derailing threads as their jobs it would seem.

So you think Verizon lobbied against their own interest?

he made Donaldson (of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette) as commissioner of the SEC. Donaldson initiated a program where the all Street firm provided their own valuation of their assets.

You know, the ones we spent mega-billions of dollars bailing out and who sold tons of shite to Fannie and Freddie.

You're on topic so, I really have no idea what you're talking about. It wasn't directed at you.

Seems like he might have ran out of arguments for his "point" and felt it best to jump in with Tex's stupidity instead. I couldn't figure out why else he'd jump into knight for that pointless shite in this discussion.

And, the dude could NOT conceptualize that competition doesn't have to be equal to influence the market.

It was a sight.
