Yeah, god help us if IQ requirements break 75. Wouldn't want a highly difficult job to be performed by talented people, would we?
How about signing up?
Being a cop is such a plush job, dealing with such nice people all day in such pleasant circumstances, with cooperation from everyone, and intellectually challenging opportunities for fruitful and substantive discussions of important issues, it would seem to me you'd want to delve right into that field.
A few of you real do-gooder genius level cops on the streets could clear out these drug infested ghettos, wife beaters, liquor store robbers, child kidnappers in just a few weeks, while basking in the applause of praise from those you steer away from their prior destructive ways of life and culture.
Go for it. You could even lead the way by leaving your kevlar vests and sidearms at home. nothing but a rubber nightstick to show just a hint image of authority should be good enough for really strong debaters.
Talk em into going forth and doing good.
edit - no comment on specific case of the OP - probably was overreaction.
I am just responding to the incessant = "all cops are stupid and evil' narrative that ramps up every time something goes wrong in a cop arrest.

Imagine a world where people obeyed the basic instructions of L.E.O. duly authorized by the people. Imagine...

The state actually refuses to hire smart cops with high IQs.

You just don't understand how hard their job is. It's almost impossible to arrest people without killing them these days. That could be because the average cop IQ now hovers in the golf score range.
Sad, but true. I've watched as the quality of LEO have declined over the years. Used to be the profession attracted and trained quality candidates. Now it seems to only attract low IQ people with "little man complex" ..."I've got a badge and a big gun, now I'm Billy Bad arse....See all my tactical stuff I'm decked out in?...better not get in my way" ~~ Saw two the other day...looking and acting all cool...they may have shaved twice in there life. They can moan and groan all they want..."I/we don't get no respect"...probably right, but they have only themselves to blame.

It was really hard watching that video, That man did not have to die. He passively resisted while asking perfectly reasonable questions. So many other ways that could’ve been handled. The officers should be held accountable for those actions. This is so sad

That baw should have gotten his arse off the tractor.
A normal person would have complied to see what the warrant was for.
Do we know what the warrant was for?

after he refuses
So what do you recommend officers do when a suspect refuses to comply with direction over and over? See if a time can be arranged when it would be convenient for the suspect to be arrested?

the law officers escalated the exchange
And Frank did nothing,right?

Actually they did answer the questions. Frank just didn't like the answers.
No, this was just a case of Frank playing the normal dindu game of "what'd I do". He's dead now because he's stupid plain and simple.
Personally I would have shot his foot off when he propped it up on the steering wheel and started in with that smart-arse attitude.

I try to avoid calling names anymore for obvious reasons but personally you're a dumbass. And yes they should've backed off from Frank and not escalated the situation. The way they were trying to get him off of the tractor was dumb. Also apparently the cop that started all of it had a personal beef with the old man. The good news is he handled up on that old man and now he doesn't have to pay for the gate that he ran over last week. I bet the next person who's property he destroys will keep that mouth shut if he doesn't want to get killed too.

Trespassing based upon a dispute with a neighbor.
The guy’s a paranoid schizophrenic.

You’re stupid.
Avoyells parish is the epitome of south Louisiana.
Regardless, it’s ashame the man died, but it’s his own fault.
Comply and you don’t die.

They never bothered to make sure he was alive after he went stiff and even when they figured out something was wrong, they only gave the bare minimum.
In the military when you refuse to give even basic aid to a captured soldier, that's what constitutes a war crime.

The man was mentally insane.

Yes it is. If the police came and told me there's a warrant, I would say "OK, let's go." I wouldn't sit there, taunt them, and try to fight. It's idiotic and you can't win. This dude has no one to blame but himself.
No it isn't. We are talking about what the police do, not the subjects actions. I don't give a frick what some mentally ill guy is doing, I care about the attitude and behavior of those people supposedly entitled to the lawful use of force in the name of the state. Is this hard to understand?
It's also ABSURD that we have to hear about how frickin hard this job is, but then also excuse these shitbags when they can't handle a circumstance with a subject that isn't cooperative, or is disabled, mentally ill, ornin an altered state. Pick one:
ths job is so hard because every situation is different.
Anyone who isn't fully cooperative deserves what they get.
