Thirteen out of the top 15 states found to be most dependent on the federal government voted for President Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Ten out of the 15 least dependent states voted for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

WalletHub analyst Jill Gonzalez explained that “federal funding as a percentage of state revenue was calculated as states’ intergovernmental revenue from the federal government divided by the states’ general revenue.”

Totally incorrect.

ETA: Let me be clear. This has never been the truth, and you're a moron for believing it. I'm tired of disproving it every single time it is posted, but will be glad to go cut and paste my response again if you insist.

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove here.

Illinois comes out looking good on your graphic yet is $200+ billion in the hole.

If only Louisiana was allowed to keep more of it's oil revenue we'd be less dependent.

And why is Louisiana shown as Republican? We have a Democrat governor.

And yet the DNC/MSM Political Complex accuse GOP voters of voting against their self interest!

There are a lot of reasons why this could be true, and they can vary from state to state.

For example, Louisiana is full of government leeches so we grab every opportunity to take a federal handout.

Whereas a state like Montana or Wyoming have relatively small state budgets, so any federal dollars takes on a higher percentage.

This is left wing spin that assumes Republicans can't do math.

Okay, you finally got us (and Trump) this time. Your right, liberals are great. Hillary should have won. What were deplorable thinking?

You should take the IQ map from this week and a demographic map and overlay it on this map. I bet you will see some corresponding features.

Not to mention CA. They have the largest recipients of welfare in the country. They should be a dark, dark green.

Because it is comparing how the states voted in 2016 Presidential election.

How much of the aid to Louisiana is to keep certain parts of the state above water or the Mississippi River from silting in or changing course. I just saw the federal government is going to waste $1.3 billion for the Comite River Diversion Project. Stupid graphic is stupid.
