Keisha Bottoms is Obama 2.0. She would absolutely have the biggest voter draw and makes Georgia competitive.

Wait. So you would actually have a first term mayor of a mid sized city, with zero experience whatsoever in national governance as the Vice President of the United States on the basis that she asked protestors to stop tearing shite up in Atlanta over the past two weeks? Good frickin lord.
If you’re going to put all of your chips on identity politics, at least have the honesty to just come out and say that you consider her a viable candidate because she’s back and from Georgia. Don’t trot out some line about “handling riots”. It doesn’t get any more intellectually dishonest than that
I already said her being from Georgia is one reason I’d have her on my list. And I honestly never heard of her before her speech on the riots so yeah, that’s a reason for her being on this list. That was a big moment for her in a lot of people’s opinions.
I’d probably put Harris above her at this point though based on experience.

So now a “big moment” according to the blue check brigade is a qualifying metric for POTUS? God damn, my man.

Yea, you are nothing but another social media slave apparently. How in tf can any reasonable person over the age of 18-20 consider someone they have never heard of to be a shortlist candidate for Vice President?
Do you even know how she feels about ANY issue that does not primarily revolve around biological attributes?

Social media slave? I was watching the protests live and saw her press conference as it happened. My opinion has nothing to do with social media and I honestly haven’t even seen any social media regarding her. I pretty much only use twitter and only for sports news.
And yeah, I did some brief research on her the other day prior to voting in a poll about Bidens VP choices. She’s an attorney, former member of the Atlanta city council, married to an attorney, 4 kids.

And in your opinion, a person with these credentials alone is qualified to be President of the United States because they gave a good speech two weeks ago? Because that is what Biden’s running mate will end up being, if he wins, and well before 2024.
A person who is in the first term of their mayorship of a mid-level city in a moderately sized state? What’s her national security background? Position on trade with China? How about our commitment to NATO? Where is she on healthcare? Or on tax rates? What’s her position on generally anything at all that is not related to the murder of George Floyd?
That’s total nonsense. Can you just admit that the only reason you’d consider her for this shortlist is solely 100% because of her skin color and female genitalia?

The days of the masses caring about what is “qualified” went out the door a few years ago. I’ve already stated though, my pick is based primarily on who I think has the best chance to beat trump. Bottoms got a big push from her speech, warranted or not. I think her being black and a woman right now may help the ticket more so than Biden choosing a white guy.

Then I hope you understand that you are part of the problem. This exact, stupid, shortsighted, low-information mindset is what got Trump elected in the first place. How hard would it be to just be educated and form opinions based on policy and not what “people say”? Preferring “who ever will beat” your political opponent is EXACTLY why American politics is a race to the lowest common denominator

You and the entire democratic intelligentsia are so ate up with trying to beat Trump that you cannot see the forest for the trees. No one on this short list, and least of all bottoms, gains Biden ONE SINGLE VOTE. Not one. Hidden/non-caring/non-voting quasi Democrats should not be your target. Actual swing voters should be your target.
There is not a single person on Earth that was going to vote for Trump and will change their vote because of Keisha Bottoms, or Kamala Harris, or Stacey Abrams, or Val Demmings, or Elizabeth Warren for that matter.
Please don’t respond with “but turnout will increase”. No it won’t. Bookmark it. Turnout will be 45-55%, like always, and identity politics will leave the Democrats at the aisle just like it did four years ago.
When the above inevitably happens, remember that it did not have to be that way.

Abe Lincoln’s experience was the Illinois state legislature, and 2 years in Congress in the House. That’s it.
Eisenhower and Grant only had military experience.

So independent and principled
I don’t like trump because he’s mean might be the most gay person argument ever.

I certainly never said, nor do I believe, that anyone Biden picks will change the mind of a trump supporter.

If you are a young straight white male with political ambitions why on Earth would you ever choose to be a Democrat at this point?
Posted on 6/12/20 at 9:26 pm to Mickey Goldmill
And yet 2016 Trump voters are the exact people who Joe Biden needs to court. Not people who were already voting for him.
You either want to defeat Trump or you don’t. It seems like you don’t.
If you do, pandering to people already on your side at the expense of losing anyone who cares about actual policy is one heck of a strategy.
The people who held their nose and voted Trump because Hillary was just that bad should be your audience and your target. For some reason, the Democrats instead seem to consider gaining retweets and favorable op-Ed’s to be more important than actually winning an election.
