The press has abandoned all principles of journalistic integrity. There are several causes for why this happened:

1) Internet advertising destroyed their main revenue stream, forcing the closure and downsizing of newspapers and newsrooms across the country. This resulted in the removal of the old guard in leadership positions.
2) Trump - The media lost their minds over Trump and adopted a stance of anything is ok if it makes Trump look bad.
3) Wokeism - See #1. The people who were left after the media downsizing were lower-paid younger journalists who did not adhere to the old standards of the press. They seem to have no appreciation or respect for the "other" side of the story. Pushing the narrative is a purity test for them.
4) George Floyd - See points 1,2, & 3.
5) Covid - The media and the government worked together to suppress the truth. The media willfully chose to do any real journalism (See #1 and #3) and actively worked to discredit anyone who didn't espouse the party line.

There isn't a single solution to this. But more security and facility improvements is one of many steps.

Living in a gated community doesn't totally protect you from crime. But it's a deterrent and makes criminals look for easier targets. Same principle.

It IS a mental illness, but if you refuse treatment and declare that the children of your opponents are fair game, “treatment” changes form.
