CONgress could care less. The US is over 40 trillion in debt. Add in unaccounted for liabilities, it might be 300-500 trillion.

So the “cash with no strings” line collapses on both halves: the $50 billion came with nuclear-compliance strings and wasn’t cash, and the cash was repayment of a genuine debt whose bad optics came from pallets and prisoner-release timing, not from being a giveaway.

Are they really strings if we give the cash up front? Obviously they didn't comply with the terms of the deal, otherwise what were we bombing earlier this year?

Seriously though man, I'm begging you at this point, please provide a link to the deal. You have all this information so surely you've seen something official. Please link it here.

Another moron listing with hubris from a place of complete ignorance. Trump isn’t giving them $300 billion. Their neighbors terrified of a nuclear Iran are. Never ceases to amaze. Do a modicum of research.

I've been seeing this idiotic, TDS, fricktard shite flying around all day. Either y'all are too stupid to simply search for the information or exceedingly dishonest.
Probably a combination of both.
You type of people hate America and are stupid. Please. Go away. Or at least stop spewing Marxist propaganda.

Grok:

The 300 billion going to Iran in this peace deal, it's coming from the ME countries, right?

Thought for 7s

No, not exactly—it's more nuanced than that. The "$300 billion" refers to a proposed international reconstruction/investment fund for postwar Iran as part of a tentative US-Iran peace framework/ceasefire deal (a 60-day extension with further talks on nuclear issues, sanctions relief, the Strait of Hormuz, etc.).

nytimes.com

Key Details on the FundIt's not a direct US taxpayer payment or simple cash handout. US officials (including VP JD Vance) have framed it as an international investment program or "reconstruction fund" that the US would help facilitate, not direct American government money. Iran had demanded reparations (estimates of war damages from $300B to $1T+), but the US side rejects outright reparations.

thehill.com

Primary funding would come from Gulf/Middle East countries and private sources. Vance explicitly stated it would be "funded by the Gulf Coast Coalition" (e.g., UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and other regional partners), contingent on Iran meeting obligations like nuclear limits, dismantling enrichment, and inspections. Gulf states have massive sovereign wealth funds and could invest for regional stability, reconstruction projects, or business opportunities.

thehill.com

Other elements include releasing some frozen Iranian assets (reports vary around $12–25B) and sanctions relief phased over time, plus potential private/international investment (e.g., US companies in energy/real estate).

You think Congress has to vote on what gulf states do with their money? Of course not. You were ignorant to the facts and you’re now quadrupling down. That is really really stupid.

Quit deflecting from the fact that you sounded like a dummy about the 300 billion.

And whatever wiki article you pasted doesn't mention how Iran wasn't in compliance with the JCPOA from the get go.

And yes, at least 400 mil was in cash. I linked CNN so you'll believe it.

I have a hard time seeing Iran agreed to it since the next president, or Trump, can tear it up at any point in time and they already got screwed by that badly

So you think Iran believes Trump is a cog in Congress’s wheel?

You think the Iranian leadership’s perception of democracy and the United States government ins and outs are so complex they think past iron fist rule?

The intelligence level and ability to engage is real debate skills of the average lefty on this board is terrible and seems to be getting exponentially worse. They seem to be devolving into just

1) starting with a premise with no basis in reality other than what they want to believe or that which makes OMB look bad.
2) repeating it or variations thereof when engaged until
3) they run off only to reappear with the same schtick in a different thread.

And it's amazing how in lock step their messaging is (once it is decided upon and fed to them).

I don't think it is a treaty. If it was I'm sure they'd break it the day after our esteemed congress approved it.

I'm starting to think IMSA knows that and is only pretending to be upset. One could be forgiven for thinking he hasn't seen anything official about the deal and is just making shite up. Could his anger here be disingenuous?
