I haven't figured it out, I think your at the mercy. I mute it and bring up the channel I want to listen to in it's own window, let it provide the sound.

Longitude.

LA is further south so night hits quicker.

Seattle is so far north it doesn’t get dark until very late, much like in Minneapolis.
