A few centuries of lost civilization development and advancements in Europe thanks to the false church?

When people were capable of reading the Bible instead of having them being told what it said civilization started advancing again.

Just a coincidence.

Think about it - when did Christians actually eclipse Roman/Hellenistic civilization? Maybe the 1600s?

What year are you living in? AD2025... think about it.

Sure, but the Christian Western Civilization is the world's most dominated. Why both of those have been trying to keep up with us.

Do better.

A couple things: Christianity is the only reason we have modern science. Kepler, Boyle, Newton, etc, all believed that there would be discernible laws in nature because they believed in the Law Giver. Aside from the belief in the Christian God, there was no reason at all to expect uniform laws of nature- as all other deities were fickle, emotional projections of humanity. This is what the historical record shows. That said, I do not defend the missteps of Rome. Your criticism of “the church” is not unwarranted, but it is not the crux of this discussion. Do you believe that Christianity inherently requires ignorance?

Specific religious flavor aside, Christian religions happen to promote values that benefit the greater social structure. Things like stoicism, monogamy, the family unit, charity, etc.

Classical Christendom = Catholic Church which created the Hospital system, the university system, modern astronomy, genetics , etc… etc … infinitum
Hell… many of the earliest pioneers of astronomy and genetics were literally Catholic Priests

Are you aware that Christianity is the very foundation of Western Society?

Ever heard of "The Protestant Work Ethic?"
Cuz it's the driving force behind the free market.

Unbelievably absurd.Almost all of the great scientists, mathmaticians, economists of the so called
"dark ages" were either clerics, monks or otherwise supported by the church.

The myth of the church and science in the "dark ages"

Many universities were founded directly by the Catholic Church. Contrary to popular myth, the Church was a great supporter of science.

Humans have been engaging in the Holy War of Religion for thousands of years and billions have been killed in it's name.

I guess it has benefited in keeping the human population of earth down though, so there is that.

Ummm, no.

And, just in case your next move is to tout the achievements of science in the absence of Christianity…
