What war? I’ve been told time and again here that there is no war.
This is their other option. Nobody (well, we may have a couple) can try to walk back "no new wars" as something they voted for. Since an armed military conflict is currently happening that only leaves two options:
1 - this is new but not war
2 - this is war but not new

If I remember my history with out reading up on it. Iran was captured by the British in ww2. The Americans moved in to supply Russia from behind the battle lines. My father was there on the Russia/iran border dealing with those in his words “dumb sob’s”. He said they were so stupid and couldn’t communicate with them

The war with Iran started in 1979
He said over and over and over there would be no regime change.
We can't pretend what happened didn't happen.
Also, I thought we weren't at war?

Of course. But also remember to walk softly. Not stupidly and recklessly. LIKE IN IRAN NOW.

If only we had commentary about Iran from Trump from the past

BamaCoaster Come back when you learn some Iranian history.
The Shah was put in power in 1941 by Britian and the Soviet Union and he replaced his father.
That is very easy to look up.
On 16 September 1941, Prime Minister Mohammad Ali Foroughi and Foreign Minister Ali Soheili attended a special session of parliament to announce the resignation of Reza Shah and that Mohammad Reza was to replace him.
The British at the time wanted to place another claimant on the throne, but that person could not speak Persian.
The Soviet Union had invaded Iran from the north and Britian from the south on 25 August 1941. Tehran was bombed by the Soviet Air Force on August 26, 1941.

That is the most mind-numbingly ignorant stance.
It's no different than bitching about someone for their buying and using an umbrella because they had left their umbrella at home because the forecast said there would be no rain today.

Carter was under his desk in fetal position sucking his thumb during most of it but I do remember one rescue attempt that involved tanks crossing the desert but somehow, they didn't anticipate the cooling systems for the tanks sucking sand up from underneath disabling all of them. I might have embellished that I bit but that is the way I remember it from 47 years ago.
ETA - Correction it was helicopters that got into a sand storm.

That's why asking why it will be different this time when we let the "Deep State" run Iran once again is so important.
Wow this is stupid. So we are better off letting a regime that threatens shipping in one of the worlds most strategically important water ways. We leave a regime that launches or backs frequent terror attacks around the world, a regime that regularly threatens US political leadership. Sure leave a regime that killed 32K of its own citizen just last month. Leave a regime that has built a global terror network or rabid maniacs, to do their thing . And a regime workin' real hard on that 60% enriched Uranium mark. Yeah let the proven nut jobs of the world have Hiroshima type weapons-
So yeah, I'd say the chance are very good it would be better this time. Cant get worse.

Look you can promote expanding the "Deep State" and its influence all you want. Just admit what you're doing.

"Deep State", That was the bunch that cancelled the primary votes for Biden and appointed Crackels Harris as the deep state Candidate.
How about the pricks that rolled out the auto-pen while Biden was vegging. Now that was deep state. Oh and the bunch using billions of tax-payer money to finance far left causes using USAID as a front.
Maybe you're just slow or deliberately ill informed ?

Operation Eagle Claw. Delta Force was created in 1977 and the hostage rescue was their first real world mission. One of the choppers got in a sand storm and crashed. Another had a hydraulic failure. I believe 3 choppers crashed in total killing 8.
After investigation and study, they determined that the Army simply didn't have chopper pilots good enough to fly in hazardous conditions at night. They created the 160th SOAR a few years later.

It is not so much that the revolution was coming and much more an extension of the cold war. Khamenei was a Marxist before he was a supreme leader and the ouster of the shah was not totally organic. We would probably see similarities between the ouster of the shah in Iran and the summer of love and anti-ice protesters here. They are all promoted by communist/authoritarian leaning organizers.
As to "will this time be different", Trump is not the deep state and the Iranian people have had forty seven years to watch these authoritarians in action. They will not be eager to return to what we see now.

We’ve been told Iran is almost out of missiles and they have a “handful” of launchers left, and the glorious Israeli Iron Dome has an intercept rate of Geran-2 drones at 100%.
Wait, that’s what they said about Russia’s missile and drone stockpile three years ago.

They chose helicopter set up to operate in a marine environment so when they landed in the sand the equipment, lacking proper filters, failed. An example of dimtard control of the military.
