Damn right. I'm a '75 model. Like I tell people all the time "your feelings aren't my problem to manage, get your shite together".

I'm ready for the mean era.

1966, Class of 85. We were pissed off that we were too young to vote for Reagan. Also missed the 19 to 21 legal age grandfather by 2 months. Half the guys in my graduating class could drink and I could not. (Legally)

I am barely Gen X (born in '79) and it's funny how much Gen X has been overlooked. Everything is about Boomers and Millennials and we are just stuck in the middle and forgotten about.

To be fair, Gen X has spent much of its existence being surly and demanding to be left alone.

I think you are confused

quote:

As of recent data, Millennials are more likely to live at home with their parents than Generation X did at a similar age. This trend has been especially pronounced in the years following the 2008 financial crisis and more recently due to factors like rising housing costs, student loan debt, and economic uncertainty.

Key points:

Millennials (born 1981–1996):

A significant portion of Millennials have lived with their parents well into their 20s and even early 30s.

Factors contributing to this trend include high student loan debt, delayed marriage and family formation, and rising housing prices, which make it difficult for many Millennials to afford independent living.

According to a 2021 Pew Research Center report, about 52% of 18-29-year-olds were living with their parents, which is a historically high percentage compared to previous generations.

Generation X (born 1965–1980):

While some Gen Xers may have lived at home for a period (often due to economic factors or personal situations), it was less common for Gen X to remain in the parental home into their late 20s or 30s compared to Millennials.

Gen Xers typically moved out of their parents' homes in their late teens or early 20s, though economic conditions like the 2008 recession did see some returning to the family home temporarily.

Comparison:

The trend of "boomeranging" or returning to live at home after initial independence is much more pronounced for Millennials than it was for Gen X, mainly due to the higher financial pressures they face, such as student loan debt, housing affordability issues, and wage stagnation.

So, in short, more Millennials live at home than Gen X did at a similar stage in their lives.

That’s bc we are a small generation, 1/4 of which was aborted. Our younger, millennial siblings came from 2nd or even 3rd marriages. Boomers were a very large generation who have not retired so we have a very limited window to make an impact now.

Trump isn’t Gen X, obviously, but his power group of Gen X Men will now lead the charge for the 1st time.

Which is exactly why we voted the way we did this election. We are so done with being told what to think, how to feel, and what opinions to hold. I remember this current crap first rearing its ugly head in the '80s when it was called "political correctness". I also remember DEI's old name of "affirmative action" and it sucked then and it's still bullshite now. Let the crybabies continue throwing their temper tantrums! It's music to my ears...

Having the wisdom and strength of character to understand that excessive empathy is toxic is not the same as being mean.

Abiding by the laws is not being mean.

Refusing to divide the world into antagonistic groups of perpetual oppressors versus perpetual victims is not being mean. It’s being respectful of the individual, valuing the concept of meritocracy.

Upholding standards is not being mean, it’s actually the highest for of love and respect, not this bigotry of low expectations that we suffer with today.
