Except for the whole actually invading the country with boots, tanks and bombs on the ground thing.
We're not forcing Venezuela to be like us like we did with Iraq. We're just recognizing and supporting the legitimate leadership of Venezuela.

Yeah, no possibly for blowback there either, huh? I bet the "good guy" will be another despot soon enough. Rinse, repeat.

Think of what you are saying here. Maduro has access to plenty of guns so he will be able to get this money/assets/wealth back very soon. Right?
Think about it like this. Your citizens are armed, and kill everyone in your regime to install a new government.
How many governments have been overthrown with no weapons? That was the original point, then you decided to somehow tie that into asset seizures

Did someone insinuate that that was the purpose of the citizens needing guns, or did you make a stupid point that you are now prepared to go to the mat defending?
Guns are absolutely worthless in this situation. Maduro has plenty of guns and people with guns at his disposal. He won't be getting his money back. Do you understand this? This isn't 1865 or even 1945 anymore. That isn't how the world works.

Holy shite, you are that dumb.
Not one single person was arguing this. They were saying “if you ever doubted the need for guns, look at the political climate of Venezuela right now”
Somehow you turned that into Maduro has guns but can’t get his money back

Should have kept a few billion as a down payment on the wall

LSURussian is the guy to opine on this.
My first thought when I read the thread's topic was, "Is that even legal?"

US based assets held by a non-citizen
Sounds like it should be possible to me

This isn't the movies

We just seized this guys assets with no weapons. He has weapons but he won't be getting his assets back. His guns and military are absolutely useless in what is happening to him.

Look at the title of this thread. Then read all the redneck hicks that thought a gun would/could prevent this. It can't. They can turn the power off on this guy tonight. His guns won't get it turned back on. Do you understand the role technology plays in 2019?

I will just sit in a remote location and freeze/seize/steal all your assets.
But in Venezuela, no one has assets. So what are you stealing? How is your computer more powerful than a starving citizenry able to arm itself?

Not one person argued this. They were saying that the citizens are oppressed because they don’t have the threat of power, it just so happened to be in a thread about Maduro getting his assets seized

Guns would not have helped one bit in this current situation. Maduro has plenty of guns. He just lost his assets and his regime is likely to be overthrown.

The United States doesn't have weapons?

Well, if we were an unarmed country, he would indeed be getting his money back.

Maduro's ability to maintain control over the country depends on his ability to keep his generals and as many soldiers as he can well fed and paid enough.
If he can't feed and pay his military enough, then he's a goner. Having a lot of guns won't fix that.

Fair trade off IMO

Explain to me how a gun could have stopped an electronic transfer of wealth?
Wow could you be more dense? I'm referring to how guns in the hands of the people would have prevented Maduro from ever taking over as a dictator to begin with.
100,000 marching in the streets empty handed is less powerful than 1,000 men with machine guns.

Plenty tried until I pointed out how literally retarded that logic was.
Guns aren't shite in a situation like this.

Maduro has the threat of power. He has guns and soldiers behind him. How will that get his assets back that have been frozen electronically? I mean guns can surely fix this. Right?

I feel like I need to go do something smart. I’ve definitely lost mental capacity in here
