Sigh. I say again - I was here. Unless you think it is all theater (bricks pained gold or something). They will say "this is France's gold this is Italy's".

What real difference does it make what is or is not in Fort Knox? There's not enough gold, platinum, palladium, rhodium, diamonds etc in the world to exhaust America's national debt.

I think he said this today. So it's 4,060 dollars per troy ounce. The US is sitting on 261.5 million troy ounces of gold, or 8,133 metric tons.
Move it all to Cheyenne Mt. All you need is 500 sq ft of a 200,000 sq ft complex with 15 blast doors.

Even fitting into rooms that small it's still a crazy amount of gold. What's even crazier to me is to think that Elon Musk could buy it all if the government would sell it to him.

the largest pile of gold or largest pile of paper gold. our government loves to spend. they took our FICA tax and spent it as soon as they got it. leaving the social security trust fund with nothing but treasuries. why wouldn't they do the same with the gold. after all, it is just sitting there collecting dust. i would guess fort knox is full of paper gold certificates.

Sure there are reasons. America pays about $1 trillion annual interest on its debt. We only collect about $5.5 trillion in revenues. Somewhere in those confusing statistics is a reason to pay off the debt.

I'm convinced that nobody needs to do anything to make you look retarded. You handle that all on your own.
I don't know what makes you think you even need to bring Daugherty's name into this. He just relayed a question and answer to our Treasury Secretary.
