The Supreme Court is about to decide four huge cases defining Trump’s power

All in the next two weeks. Birthright citizenship is the most explosive, IMHO. It should have been ruled on decades ago.

Ever since President Trump returned to office last January, he and the Supreme Court have been locked in an uneasy tango. Now, the tempo is about to quicken.
Over the next two weeks, the court will race to clear its docket before the justices take their annual summer break. Four remaining cases involve Trump’s aggressive efforts to expand his own power. In at least a couple of them, the justices seem inclined to rein him in. What the court says—and how it says it—will help define its relationship with a pugnacious president for the remainder of his time in office.
The justices are weighing whether Trump can (1) redefine birthright citizenship, (2) fire a governor of the Federal Reserve, (3) consolidate power over independent agencies and (4) strip protections from hundreds of thousands of immigrants. Though the four cases turn on different legal issues, together they will send a strong signal about how far the court’s conservative majority is willing to let Trump go, legal experts say.

I anticipate lots of punting and/or narrowly tailored rulings, unfortunately.

I would be shocked if birthright citizenship went his way. The way people have talked about that it may go 9-0 or 8-1 against him. I would love to be wrong though

To be fair, decades ago we didnt have the problem we do today. (or the last 6-7 years.

I would love to be similarly shocked. You'd think that something as clearcut as ruling against rich chinese taking 'birth vacations' so their spawn would have all the rights of American citizenship would be a no-brainer.

my predictions:
1. He can’t
2. He can “for cause” and the ruling will mostly be about whether this firing counts as “for cause”
3. Yes
4. Probably yes.

Better to nip it in the bud before it got absolutely awful than ignore it for decades.

One thought is that since it's taking them sooooo long to release these opinions, is that the minority is dragging their feet with the dissents. This may be a good sign.
Or maybe just wishful thinking.

and if they do, Trump should IMMEDIATELY
1) announce that no woman that is pregnant will be given a visa or allowed into the country
2) any pregnant illegal will be immediately deported to their home country upon capture - with their claims to be adjudicated there
3) any current visa to a female will be terminated in 7 days unless they can prove they are not pregnant

This is likely how it will come down.

And much barely coherent writings from the unqualified black lady.

And any non-citizen that gives birth in the United States is immediately deported and is banned from entering the United States in the future.

I agree. But would add, I think there is a small chance on 1. that you have a 9-0 or 8-1 majority say that for people who come here with the intent to live/reside permanently and have a child then the child is a citizen. For those on visas, you might get a dissent of 3 or 4, with outside chance at a majority, say those here on a visa (temporary) cannot give birth and have a child that becomes a citizen.
Based largely on the SCOTUS case dealing with the Chinese immigrant who was born to parents with permanent domiciles.
obviously, I am just guessing.

If she’s writing the opinion on any of those topics…..this board will implode at a nuclear level because that means it was probably unanimous against the administration.

Yea, SCOTUS is never going to sanction any of that either

No they aren’t.

I would already do that.

That's when Trump channels Andy Jackson and ignores them.
If their conclusion is that the borders of this nation are meaningless and citizenship is purely a function of where some illegal shits their spawn out, he would have an obligation to ignore them.
ETA: when he makes the announcement, he should pre-emptively state that his Administration will not recognize any order from any court regarding the enforceabilty of these rules except from the SCOTUS and only after full briefing on the merits and oral argument.
