I HAVE answered this question ... repeatedly. You simply do not agree with the answer, so you pretend it has not been provided and return to your own nonsensical, circular arguments.

AGAIN. The vast majority of us agree that it is generally acceptable to kill animals and NOT generally acceptable to kill adult humans. To understand why one is acceptable and the other is not, we must determine what objective traits and characteristics separate one from the other.

“Life” is not that trait, because both are alive. Thus, it is a red herring..

“Heartbeat” is not that trait, because both have a heartbeat. Thus, it too is a red herring.

We can undertake the same analysis as to EACH objective trait posited by abortion opponents, and we will find that every one of them is shared by both humans and animals, except those who make a religious argument (which is inherently not susceptible to logical analysis) and those who simply say that humans are different because they are human. (Your variant is that humans have “personhood” from the instant of conception, which as you use the term is just another way of saying the same thing).

That is a circular argument and could be rejected for that reason alone. Yet it also fails because it fails to account for the possibility of non-human life which should also be afforded protection. (e.g. a shipload of intelligent aliens per Alien Nation or a tribe of intelligent porpoises that swims up to a Key West dock and starts conversing with the fishermen).

After years of analysis, I have reached the conclusion that “sapience” is the only logical and objective distinguishing trait, and that it should thus be the factor considered when determining whether the taking of a given life should be acceptable.

An early term fetus simply does not have sapience, and I reject the notion that its life has the same value as an organism that DOES have sapience. As to a later-term fetus, more progress towards full sapience has been made, and its interests should be balanced against the interests and burdens of the pregnant woman.

For a variety of reasons far beyond the scope of this short post, I have formed the belief that we should give a pregnant woman 16-20 weeks to exercise her rights and that convenience abortion should be precluded thereafter.

You reject this analysis for reasons that I see as being utterly illogical and subjective. Reduced to its essentials, you cling to the circular argument “Reeeee ... But it’s a PERSON ... reeeeeeee.” When asked to explain, you mumble something about a “personhood gap” with no explanation of what you think that term. might mean.

You are entitled to your opinion, regardless of how ill-reasoned I think it may be. But nothing requires me to continue discussing the matter with someone who is clearly incapable of any argument that is not inherently circular.

So, there you have it, AGAIN, for probably the tenth time. Do not continue to assert that I have not explained my views or the reasons for them. Hell, your own whiny post contained a simplistic (if biased) summary of my views.

Yes, I generally DO ignore you at this point. Not to put too fine a point on it, but you are the guy who memorizes a few technical terms, drops them randomly into conversation (often incorrectly), and thinks that doing so makes him erudite. You are not, and I have simply reached the conclusion that you are too stupid to justify wasting further time on you.
