The same exact thing done in AG. Seed, chemicals, equipment, all have additional fees and charges for US farmers that are not paid by farmers outside the US.
Yup. Americans have been getting fleeced for years. It’s time for all of that to end

And when the price is legalized for all countries it will cause a “crash” in The socialized medicine countries we have bee subsidizing. They are already rationing services.
And Americans will see the reprice we deserve.

Might be time to put most non opioid drugs over the counter to get past the pricing cabals.
That sounds like a great idea. Why stop at opioids?

I don’t believe advertising is the reason.
It has to be a major factor. God only knows what their propaganda budget is, but there's no doubt it's a frickton and drives their prices higher.

Great job. Still waiting to hear anything.

30 days sounds good. But I’m a bit skeptical until we see it.
Reducing the Medical insurance record profits could be a speed bump.

What I mean by that is that the ads create demand where it shouldn't be. Imagine if you had never seen a TV ad for any drug and you went in to the doctor and the doctor is like, "what I would like to do is have you start taking these 5 different, very expensive drugs. Any one of which might cause you to go blind or kill you. Or, you know, you could just eat better."
I feel like without the nonstop ads, people would reject the drugs.

This would help immensely.
When Prilosec went OTC, the price dropped from well over $100 for a 30-day supply to where you can now purchase 30 days of omeprazole for well under $10.
GSK’s Flonase dropped from $100ish 30-day prescription to $21 for a bottle today as OTC.

He specifically said the US is paying for "socialist" medical systems in European countries.

I learned about this in college when our professor set up debates and you had to pick a certain side and come up with an argument with evidence and sources to back up your position. The entire class including her were shocked at the findings from my groups presentation. The US funds all R&D for big pharma for the entire world. We subsidize the entire world’s healthcare yet they sit back and make fun of us because they get it for free. It’s utterly pathetic. Not only are we paying for half of our own freeloaders, we are giving the entire world a free ride on our backs. Something has to change soon and it has to change drastically. The world loves to say we are some evil empire. In reality we are the most benevolent and charitable nation or empire in the history of the entire world.

Pharmaceutical sales reps are part of it too.
Usually a babe with a roller case and gives the doctor samples. Then they invite doc to a seminar and tickets to a game. Doc gets perks for prescribing their meds.
The ads work on the patients. The sales reps on the doctors.

I’m sure that there’s a list out there of politicians and the amounts of ‘contributions’ they receive from the drug manufacturers.

The trade offs for banning marketing of drugs and price controls won’t be acceptable to the public so hopefully everybody in this thread advocating for both are extremely healthy individuals

Yeah that’s not news to anyone paying attention.
We don’t also fund the free loaders in our own country, but prop up the rest of the world too.

How is this new information to anyone in the real world?

This is actually a very interesting situation. Foreign markets are mostly public and can only pay so much for meds with their national healthcare/insurance systems. So if they can't afford these drugs, the drug companies will lose revenue. Will they offset that loss by raising prices of American drugs? Or will they just eat the revenue losses and a new paradigm will emerge in a few years with lower profitability for these companies?
So all these countries just won’t buy drugs leading to a shortage in their country causing drugs to increase in price anyway? And not only having a price increase but an increase in suffering from people in need of this medication.
These other countries can always just increase taxes to pay for it.

Oh, no, I believe it. We need to quit subsidizing the rest of the world and fix our mess at home.
This is why we pay so much and why most other countries have social services that we don’t have.

No shite. We not only subsidize the rest of the world but pay for R&D as well.

Letting pharmaceutical companies advertise is critical to informing the public of what drugs are available that might be a help to them. Socialist countries do not let pharmaceutical companies advertise because socialist countries pay for the public healthcare, and they do not want to public asking for medicines that the government does not deam that they should have. Letting pharmaceutical companies adverse is critical to letting people know about the drugs that are available that might be of help them.
