It amazes me how badly some of you want people to get sick and die so you can get a political win. It’s pretty sick.

Obviously. If this infects several hundred thousand in the West, and kills several thousand of those, it will be more than SARS - in the West.
But, right now - the panic sounds exactly like SARS, MERS, Ebola, etc. Panic is contagious and counter-productive.
If we had a better educated population (and I don't necessarily mean book learning, but critical thinking skills) and not a bunch of panicky flock of sheople, we would be working the problem in a systematic way. But the huge leftward shift we've experienced over the past couple of generations have us all in a constant state of emotional overstimulation.

I don't think that has always been clear, at least not to me. Most of the discussions have been around what some fear may happen if this continues to spread, not so much about what has already happened. When you say "SARS 2.0" I assumed you meant this will fall apart and not have a significant impact.

True but we also have a vaccine for the regular flu. Also the regular flu has a 3 day incubation period so you are contagious for 3 days versus 14 days with coronavirus. I heard today that some people never show any symptoms but are actually contagious the whole time. The only people that will really suffer are the old and very young. We are generally more healthy and have better health care so it wont be as bad here.
