The reason we have few cases of COVID-19 in the US is because they aren't testing for it.

Respectfully, who knows if he's off base or not. I work in a military medical facility. The standards currently set by the CDC to be tested will not capture all infected, period and point blank.

You must have symptoms, have had traveled to China, or known to been in close contact with someone being monitored or infected.

Clearly China is not the only area the virus has now spread too, so off the bat you can see the problem with that.

[Worst case of course] Unless we can get a shite ton of Sprite, Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup and Dayquil, there will only be 98% of us left by Christmas.

We'll need something to celebrate, though, I suppose to get us through the hard reality of it all. So, go ahead and plan Christmas, sad as that prospect is with only 98% of us left.

Based on reliable, credible information we have right now, February 27, 2020? Not at all.

Obviously, the situation can change rapidly. SARS (of which this virus appears somewhat related in origin, vectors, etc.) was generally a more lethal virus, but not as transmissible as this one. It had a R0 range from 2 to 4 (I think they are estimating COVID19 is about 2.8 or thereabouts, currently) and controls got that down to 0.4.

If we can get the R0 down to, say, .5 to 1, it won't even be a popcorn fart compared to the seasonal flu.

Of course, with an emerging story, I would prefer we err on the side of caution. "Caution" does not equal "panic."
