The psychological efforts that go into getting you to hate the other side

How much of what you think about the other side is organic, vs trained behavior that came from targeted messages and images to get you to think a certain way?
What if there is no Right or Left in Washington, and all they really care about is maintaining their status quo?
People who have never been to California hate California. People who have never been to Alabama ridicule Alabama.
What if the Left and Right were coached into their increasingly incompatible positions to ensure there exists an unbridgeable divide so that DC power brokers get to stay in power?

Organic?
As in “I used logic and common sense to assess the circumstances and formulated my opinion based on those assessments?”
100%

Think about Mainstream Media Inc. or Conservative, Inc. Maybe their jobs are to keep pumping us full of outrage so that you don’t start taking to the other side about income taxes, or why US Senators are so old and often die in office, or a host of other things.

And what if information about the circumstances was curated before you received it to steer you towards a particular conclusion?

It’s always about maintaining the status quo for them. To be quite honest the left really hasn’t done much and I’ve had more issues with our own side helping the status quo working against Trump.

There are several communists in the Dem congress. Who are the GOP communists?

That’s because the left isn’t in power currently.
I can’t stand our rinos bunch of traitors BUT they’re not Marxists like the left.

Everything you wrote sounds like left wing projection.
I love California. I would move to San Diego in a heartbeat if I could. But its Californians who say things like fly over country and dumb redneck to anyone not living in California.
And my number one issue is the border. Are you telling me republicans are duping me and Democrats really want to deport illegals?

I could never hate a generic voter half as much as I hate the media or politicians (this includes most of the ones on my side).

I could buy that.
Now why are all the occupied countries suddenly going to the same port?

This is bullshite and a total misrepresentation of facts.
People don't hate "California ", folks don't support their Marxist ideologies.
Most southern folks support traditional American values, which are polar opposites of Marxist Dems ideas.
I don't know about "hate", but America First Americans should oppose, in the most fiercest and aggressive way, the California Marxist ideas!
Don't let these fricking Marxist idiots trick you....

They can’t separate the whackjob politics from the state as a whole (a state that has millions and millions of Republican voters)

These raids are taking place all over the country. Just because your woke podcast bros don’t mention these sorts of things doesn’t mean they aren’t happening.

100%. Myself, and all of my children, are products of public schools. Conservative thought is very shunned in that venue overall. I've had my beliefs tested and retested every spring and fall for decades.
ETA: I do realize leftists don't get that experience, so your thoughts make sense from that perspective.

That's trivial though subjective.
My opinions of them aren't based upon what other people say and think about them. I formulate my opinions of them through my personal anecdotal observations of their behaviors and actions.
There's no doubt that 80% of it comes from gaslighting, indoctrination and psyops. But it's my personal opinion that the root cause really doesn't matter in the heat of the moment, especially when little to nothing is being done to address the root cause (which originates in public education, higher education, mainstream media, social media, Hollywood, the music industry, college and professional sports and everything else that influences popular culture, with the see eye A sitting atop the mountain of propaganda).
I say the cause really doesn't matter only because change can only come from within the individual if they choose to do so. In the 90s I was a pretty hard-core Kennedy Democrat and a big fan of Clinton. Today, the Overton Window has shifted so far to the Left, combined with my political and social positions sliding to the Right, that I'm pretty much a staunch conservative at every level. But that happened partially organically and in part because I'm inherently contrarian and always among the first to reverse course when everyone else is heading in one direction.
But TL/RD: probably 70-80% of it comes from outside influence, while a good portion of it is also due to the negative effects of SSRIs (almost 45% of polled and self-described "Democratic Socialists" admitted to suffering from mental illness in their lives, with over half of them being female.
