Since the government doesn't spend the money on nothing worthwhile, I hope they cut taxes. Neither party seems to know what to do with it.

Recreate the modern version of the Victorian Era poor farm.

Are you saying that the leftiest states aren't taking care of him? How much money have they wasted on the drug addicts of the left coast? And you want to "help him" even more?

He's a certified druggie. His mental illness and lot in life is self imposed. But, you feel free to invite him into your home. I'm sure you'll be more than happy to have him around your loved ones. Let's see that toxic empathy in action.

I 100% know he is an addict. A homeless guy in Portland, OR is the same as a homeless guy in San Fran or any other liberal utopia. DRUGS. They are homeless by choice, not by circumstance. If they truly wanted help, they wouldn't be homeless right now. Hell, Oregon has some of the most generous drug enrichment programs in the entire country.

Can't, yeah, maybe. But what about "won't" or "don't"?

Mathew Davis, who lives in a homeless shelter in Austin, Texas, would love an apartment of his own. But with the little money he makes donating blood plasma, even a $450-a-month tiny home with no running water and a communal bathroom would be a stretch.
There's a lot of people who would prefer to have a place of their own.
I know plenty of guys who are having 60% of their income taken in child support saying the same.
No running water is a rental violation on the part of the landlord. Stupid reporter doesn't know his law.
Follow up piece will be about how the donation center blew out his veins, and now he can't maintain his income.

What about non-Americans. Do we take care of them too when they can’t??

If you don’t like the story from yahoo that you linked, you’ll probably like even less the story within the story, the National Low Income Housing Coalition's most recent annual report, that’s linked in the yahoo story.

Too bad. We put prisoners to work, have the unemployment office hire a few of the retired supervisors (since they've worked with difficult people before) & put these guys to work.
He can even work OT if he wants

I've learned that you cannot change a person's behavior by caring more than they do about their situation. Alcoholics don't respond to people catering to them in any way. Poor people who don't care enough to get a job in the slightest aren't going to change because you give them money.
