There aren’t going to be any serious negotiations.

If what was listed are all Russia is actually asking then that's a huge win for Ukraine and they should take it in a heartbeat. I figured reopening the canal used to supply Crimea with water would be on there too. It may be implied with recognizing them as part of Russia.

If that's real I'm not sure why Ukraine hasn't rushed to the table. It's quite reasonable compared to what they stand to lose if they continue fighting.

The Russian regime cannot be trusted to negotiate in good faith.

I agree but Ukraine saying "DEAL" publicly and loudly puts Russia in a bind. At least call their bluff.

The head of the Azov brigade once threatened Zelensky, saying that Zelenskys corpse would end up hanging in the street, if he betrayed Ukraine.

The ultra nationalists aren’t a big block, but they have a lot of power, and they’ve repeatedly forced Zelensky to bend.

Giving up Ukrainian territory would be a non starter, because of their influence.

And you feel that the Ukrainian government will? The most corrupt government in Europe? A government that IMF, NATO, WHO, and the EU have sanctioned/censored multiple times?

Southfront says the Russians broke through at Izyum. This exposes the northern flank of the Ukrainian Army in the Donbas.

The Kremlin has announced its demands for ending the war in Ukraine:
-Ukraine must change its constitution to guarantee it won't join any "blocs", i.e. NATO + EU.
-Must recognise Crimea as part of Russia.
-Must recognise the eastern separatist regions as independent.

Another round of negotiations are slated for today.

Ukraine will say no to all of those.

Russia has already blown the dam that the Ukrainians built to stop the flow of water to Crimea.

Because Ukraine does not recognize the legitimacy of the elections held in Crimea and the separatists regions which is the correct position because they were not legal elections under international, Ukrainian, or even Russian law.

It's not reasonable especially since Russia offers no guarantee that it won't invade again. Ukraine might not join NATO but it will have to rebuild its forces and since most of Ukraine's military factories have been damaged or destroyed in the fighting it will have to buy equipment from the west. The first time Ukraine tries to buy F16s, M1A2s, etc Russia will say that Ukraine is being provocative and threatening its security and invade again.

Also this war has unified the Ukrainian people even the Ukrainians of Russian descent (aka ethnic Russians) hate Russia with a passion now. They want to fight.

There is probably no way for Russia to achieve its political goals at this point… they will ‘win’ the military conflict (mission accomplished) but there is no way to control Ukraine and establish a gov the people will follow.

The only question is how many people are gonna die?… Ukraine has made up its mind (its easy when it’s your country)… and Putin has probably made up his.

I really don’t think that was ever the goal. The US couldn’t control a country the size of Ukraine with a relatively modern population

Jesus… Yeah, you can’t negotiate with these people… they’re literally too corrupt and inept.
