Damn, Iran bitch slapped Donnie and Israel.
At least donnie looks to have stopped letting Bibi run the show for now. Stupid arse war that has turned Iran into a world power and killed 14 Americans and caused post COVID levels of inflation and may trigger an era of stagflation. And we have depleted our munitions significantly.
Better to take the medicine now then let it continue so I give him props for admitting defeat.

It’s hard to conclude anything other than Trump thought a few weeks of bombing would lead to favorable regime change. If not, Iran was never going to submit without boots on the ground.

So the regime traded the Ayatollah for essentially control of the Strait. Seems like a good trade for them.

Are you thinking the promise of the $300B will make Iran neutral to us or pull away from China?
The US will want to recoup it's investment for this and the obvious way this will be done is for them to trade their oil on our dollar.

I'm fine admitting this may have been the inevitable result once we pulled that trigger. I'm not sure there was a considerably better deal to get without driving up the leverage, which we didn't want to do.
The real questions are, did we know it at the time and were at peace with it? Or did we expect an uprising or some other paradigm shift to make the exit negotiations far more attractive? Did we factor in the uncertainty as to that question and knew it was a coinflip?
Personally, I think we knew there were risks. I think we were probably sold a bill of goods by the Israeli IC that made it seem like the paradigm shift part was far more likely than it was, and so a 50-50 proposition in theory became a 20-80 proposition in reality.
As an aside, I see lots of neocon-lite types who bashed JD Vance for his reservations about the Iran campaign now blaming JD Vance for a less than spectacular deal. The right has a TON of this remnant left, even as MAGA is probably on the downslope. The swamp was never closed to drained, and will be poised to reassert itself.
