The NFL becoming woke isn’t a losing strategy for them

When is the last time you’ve seen a National article about head injuries and how football was doomed? It’s been at least 2 years from my recollection. That coincides with the political shift leftward. Prominent NFL writers no longer have a death wish for the league because they can now virtue signal and feel good about the leagues role in moving American culture leftward.
Brain trauma was an existential crisis for the NFL. It’s been put on the back burner by Park Avenue moving left in a big way.
The present absolute worst case scenario for the NFL this season (if the season is played) is an average 25% decline in television viewership versus last season. We would all rightfully celebrate that, the President would gloat, and Breitbart would run giddy headlines every Tuesday when the new TV ratings are released. And that wouldn’t even lower player salaries within the next 10 years, because even if current partners ESPN, NBC, Fox, and CBS balked from renegotiating the next deal at current prices, there is Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Facebook, and Google just dying to overpay to get in on the action.
Much like Nike, the NFL knows what it’s doing by moving leftward. I hate it, but it’s true.

Sometimes the cure is deadlier than the disease.

It’s definitely an appeal to the media.
They are betting that they can get the media on their side (and they have) and their audience will keep watching no matter how much they preach at them and insult them (we’ll see).

You're wrong. The people they are pandering to would have watched the NFL regardless.
Casual watchers like me are going to tell them to frick off.
They didn't learn shite from 'Kneelgate.'

Short sighted thinking for two reasons:
1) Like all radical left wing ideas, they’re mostly trends that are popular in the moment. In a few years, most of this bullshite will have calmed down and the NFL will have lost a portion of its fanbase who got tired of the BLM pandering and the disrespecting of the flag. Then the concussion problem pops back up.
2) Being woke is always a losing strategy because it’s never enough. The NFL is pandering to BLM but BLM will always want more. The millisecond the NFL doesn’t comply, then they’re back to being a racist league.

well, I'm not interested at all in football right now.
not worth spending time or money on it anymore.

You're overthinking it.
does not equal plaintiff attorney.
what is in the collective conscious at the moment ebbs and flow.
plaintiff attorney desire to make bank does not.
real brain trauma from a lifetime of football also does not.
In the end, the league will pay and the game will change.

The victims got/are getting their money now so now it's considered a done deal. As we all know, money talks and silence walks away.

They did a pretty quick about face when the Kapernick shite first started. They've only amplified their kneeling stance and are outright encouraging kneelers. I don't think this is going to fare the way they think it will.
Get ready for the liberals to explain the low viewership as "but coronavirus" or "well it goes down every year". They will do anything to convince you that the NFL's SJW stance is not causing the decline.

I've watched the NFL for as long as I can remember.
I won't watch it now. If I wanted to be preached to, I'd go to church.

The first time someone gets lit up in a game, the concussion issue will come back up. Although I won’t know about it since I won’t be watching.
The leftist media is continually adding “cancel” strategies to its repertoire. They can only use so many at once, but just because you don’t hear about something for a while, doesn’t mean it’s not still in their toolbox.

The average viewer doesn't care about the brain damage because it's a career choice to play. No one forces someone to play and damage their brain. Many careers are dangerous.
LOOK HOW DANGEROUS BEING A TEACHER IS NOW! (sarcasm) However, I DO CARE if they start lecturing me. I pay my taxes and treat everyone with respect so get off my back. If you want to lecture me, I'm out. I will not watch.

So y'all think because you're not hearing about it all those potential lawsuits go away?
The NFL is catering to their mortal enemies while telling the vast majority of their paying customers to frick off

The only problem is CTE is not going away. It may be quiet right now because white man bad is filling the void but white man bad will die out and die out quickly.
So here is the calculation:
Lose money with CTE only.
Or,
Lose money with CTE and white man bad.
The problem with NFL leadership is just like corporate leadership, short term thinking. There is an incentive to think short term. Make quick profits, boost stock price (not talking about the NFL), cash out options, retire and leave the mess for the next executive.

Goodell, ad agencies, marketing firms and finally age demographics all are pointing them in this direction. Goodell is just too much of a cuck to find the middle ground. It’s going to be interesting to see what the owners do.

See, the majority of money spent doesn't align itself with folks like you. Is what it is.
