As do I, and guess what? The six cases in my rural WNC county are all from people that don’t live here. Five from New York and one from Florida where they moved from New York.

The West has a very low rural density. The rural parts of the South have a much higher population density. There's a whole lot of nothing in the rural parts of the West. Drive through any rural sections of the South and you'll consistently see housing. Get on a satellite view and you'll see even more because most are tucked behind trees.

Interestingly the more red there is the fewer the number of cases. The non-red areas of DFW and Houston have more cases.

The west is so rural that people are much more self reliant. They don’t just run to the store, they load up and are basically preppers by a lot of people’s definitions.
