FFS. The population of New Orleans in 2004 (pre Katrina) was 455,000...in 2025 it's 351,399. It's not half but it is 1/4 what it used to be.
quote:
In 2004, the year before Katrina, New Orleans suffered 265 murders, yielding a murder rate of 56 per 100,000 residents – already 4 ½ times the average for similar-size cities.
quote:
Murder rate in 2022: 70 per 100,000
So fewer people with a higher murder per capita rate currently.
Your argument that New Orleans isn't becoming a shithole because crime is less is foolish.
Give it up.

There were 124 total murders last year.
There were 264 murders in 2004.

wow so you're an alcoholic whore!
Typical teenager in New Orleans back then. That’s what kids did for fun in high school here.

bet if you had as many sticking out of you as you've had stuck into you you'd look like a porcupine!
What a bizarre topic change. How often do you think about me having sex in a given day?

Man, what a difference the state police make. The State AG too.

So the state police are doing work.! Nice!!!
The state AG taking their cases out of the hands of the corrupt officials in New Orleans is an added plus!
You lefty’s are typically vile and violent.
Sadly, there is still lots of work to do.
Maybe the Louisiana National Guard can help out.

Wow...the 4th highest per capita murder rate for New Orleans going back to 2013...53 murders per 100k people. The national average was 5.5.

What's the city nearest to you, and how does it compare and contrast from 30-40 years ago?
Baton Rouge. Complete decline. Schools, neighborhoods, crime.

I don’t understand what you gain by denying that New Orleans has a crime problem and has for a long time.
seriously?
The city is ran by liberals. 4cubbies is a nut job liberal.

Crime is down, 1/4 of New Orleans murders this year were from the New Year's terrorist's attack

I guess my question is what percentage of cities AREN'T nicer and safer than they were 30 or 40 years ago? Maybe 5 percent?
If you conflate suburban areas with "the city", 0%.
If you're actually sticking with inner cities, which was essentially the entire city 50 years ago, 95%.

They can't build 750,000 townhouses fast enough in Atlanta now. White people walking in Lulu Lemons everywhere.
Yes Atlanta is like most 3rd world countries in that you have pockets of affluence that can afford to keep the majority out. But let’s not pretend the rampant violence and gang and culture related violence isn’t there.
Knoxville outside of the shrinking East Knoxville is a vibrant thriving city. And has been for decades.
I’ve not been to Macon since the 90s so I cannot speak to it. But I can speak to Augusta Ga, the second largest population center in GA. And it has devolved incredibly in the last 20ish years. In the 90s I would go downtown and all the events I was in the areas for and think nothing of walking the riverwalk at night. That slowed down by 2003 and I stopped going at night by 2010 and you couldn’t pay me to go downtown or to an event there now. Too much random gang and cultural crime. The last sheriff and DA was pro crime. And the fools are learning that moving to Columbia county was not moving far enough. The mindset of “it’s like this everywhere so why should we do anything about it” is the dominant belief in Augusta now.

Why go back to 2004? New Orleans was once the Paris of the South… one of the most important cities in the US.
Posted on 8/10/25 at 10:55 am to 4cubbies
1994 was 30 years ago. We are talking about the perception of cities going downhill more recently. The general sense of decline started with the Defund the Police movement in 2020 after the George Floyd hoax. That’s when police stopped policing. Keep up. You really bring absolutely nothing to this board.

It really works both ways though. NOLA post Moon Landrieu, or Detroit, Baltimore, etc… all crumbling under decades of democrat rule.

Something worth noting is that many (if not most) suburbs actively refuse to open shelters or provide services for homeless individuals. As a result, homeless people are often forced to travel to the nearest urban center in order to access shelter, food assistance, or social services. This is a major reason homelessness appears concentrated in cities. It is not solely a city problem, homelessness is a widespread issue that suburban areas intentionally shift onto urban areas
This sounds like blame.
So you never said the above.
Just STFU. Everything you say seems to be a blatant lie.
