As is the case any time you claim such, this is of course a falsehood.

while actively depending on those same cities to absorb their own homeless people

I would imagine the fine folks of ascension parish aren't "actively" asking Baton Rouge to do shite about homeless people from ascension parish.

You'll never understand how warped your worldview is by your time with the idiots you associate with professionally and personally.

They aren’t shitholes. Some segments of New Orleans East are. But the lower ninth was extremely dangerous when NOE wasn’t dangerous. Now parts of NOE are dangerous and the lower ninth is much safer. Him calling Gentilly a shithole is quite funny. Gentilly is practically suburban.

The fine folks of AP refuse to maintain a homeless shelter. They either hope their homeless quickly die in secret or they depend on Baton Rouge to absorb AP’s homeless.

Respectfully, you seem to live in a bubble full of people just like yourself. Not only are you Unfamiliar with the problems other communities face, you don’t know how to discuss topics with which you aren’t familiar, nor do you know how to have a civil discussion with someone who doesn’t live in your bubble.

But go on. Tell me more about my warped worldview.

So they aren't actively relying on Baton Rouge as you stated?

None of this is true and confirms my point in the previous post.

Thank you.

What is AP’s plan for homeless people in AP? How does AP plan to house or expel them?

Does ignoring problems make them disappear?

Why does a community need to have a plan to address ills befallen to a group through their own choices? Especially when all available alternatives seem to be an ineffectual black hole of resources?

Why do you think they are ignoring it? Understanding that nothing productive can be done and acting accordingly is a responsible choice.

However I'm glad we've established that no one is "actively" relying on cities to take care of it. That was stupid.

Cubbies, I'd love for that to be true. But it just isn't. It hasn't been true for 40yrs since the mid-80s oil downturn. While Atlanta grew 5x, NO despite tremendous advantages, barely grew 1.5x. Nagin screwed NO reputationally more than you can even imagine.

Visit Washington DC. Wear expensive clothes and jewelry. Drive a car with lots of gun control stickers. Let us know how it works out.

Nagin didn't do is any favors by exporting the dregs in 2005... POS never went back to NO after invading Atlanta upon evac.

even New Orleans, which has many legitimate problems, isn’t close to as bad as portrayed.

Wasn’t the murder rate per capita in the US the worst in the US among large US cities in 2022?

Are you saying Latoya has really turned things around since then?

Are you claiming the entire city of New Orleans is a shithole? Every neighborhood in every part of town? Every single block of New Orleans East is a shithole?

. That reputation doesn’t mean my neighborhood is a shithole. Or that the entire city is a shithole. It’s difficult to debate this with people who aren’t familiar with the New Orleans that exists today or last year or the year before.

The entire state is losing residents. Unfortunately, corruption and terrible leadership isn’t isolated to New Orleans.

I couldn't imagine how bad many cities in the south at given the demographics you guys have down there.

Reputation has nothing to do with it. Outside of incredibly rare and affluent exceptions, New Orleans is unequivocally a crime-ridden, dirty, litter filled shite hole with property crime running rampant and unchecked. Only the unhinged would disagree.

A lot of this isn't really reliant on politicians.

I think a lot of this goes back to Rudy getting all the praise for NYC when it likely had very little, if anything, to do with him, along with the general reliance on people thinking government solves problems.

New Orleans was the murder capital of the US at several points. Its peak was in 1994, with 424 murders. There were 266 murders in 2022.

I’m saying that New Orleans is a lot safer today than it was 30 years ago.

When was the last time you spent the night in New Orleans? How many times were you victimized?

These threads always crack me up. A bunch of people who don’t live in and swore New Orleans off years ago, telling current residents how shitty the city is.

New Orleans has many problems, but I think a lot of you would be surprised at how some neighborhoods look now. Places like uptown, mid city, Lakeview, Irish channel, etc look completely different than they did pre Katrina.

The east is a dump I certainly won’t argue that.
