Pew must be using Common Core stat books, adds a 4th definition of “average” just in time for the July 4th

average, mean, median, mode, and common

If they're trying to compare racial breakdowns, they should not include the Hispanic ethnicity. Those folks have a race also.

One of the failures of American society is the common misperception that there is more than one race of human beings. It has been tens of thousands of years since another race walked alongside H. sapiens sapiens.

In this country we seem to actively seek out differences between groups and then label them racial when they are actually just ethnic. The idea of Negroids, Caucasoids and Mongoloids emerged when ignorance about the make up of modern humans existed. America, as a society has never accepted the knowledge that every human is virtually identical to every other human, biologically speaking. We are definitely not the melting pot that our founders foresaw.

I don't disagree, but conservatives aren't the ones doing this. In common vernacular, Hispanic is an ethnicity while white and black are races.

This isn't entirely true.

Depends. Your darker skinned Mexicans are descendants of Mayans and such. The light skinned ones are Spanish.

Argentina is considered a 75% white nation demographically because they are all Spanish and Italian (with a few Nazis lol). A lot of South America Hispanics are white but Central America and Mexico are majority natives

You appear to be laboring under the misconception that race = species.

The more accurate analogy is race = breed, i.e. a selectively mated ingroup that shares biologically differentiated traits adapted through Darwinian environmental pressures over hundreds of generations.

Those broad racial categories we define by skin color (black, white, yellow, brown) are also largely defined by the parts of the world from which they differentiated (Africa, Europe, Asia, America) several millennia ago. They are all H. Sapiens, but adapted to the conditions of their geographic regions in ways that best suited their survival in those regions.

No way multi racial is that low. If properly counted, it's technically #2 I have no doubt.

In the sense that a majority of Hispanics are Christian — and more specifically Catholic — I would agree.

Most of the hispanic/race confusion in the U.S. comes from Mexico. A large majority of the Mexican people are native Americans, like the Aztec.

Someone riddle me this: if the United States is such a systematically racist nation, why do so many mestizos seek to immigrate here? Further, why do we not see large segments of this demographic participating in these protests against racial discrimination?

There were literally millions of natives in mesoamerica when the Europeans showed up. Smallpox and measles took out a lot of them, but they didn't all vanish. They get lumped into Hispanic now, too, don't they?

You don’t know what you’re talking about. H. sapiens sapiens is not a different species to H. sapiens neanderthalis, H. sapiens denisova and H. sapiens floresensis. These are all subspecies, or races, of H. sapiens. There are at least three other races that are evidenced by genes in modern humans but have not been found in fossils yet.

Good lord. You’re the quintessential example of someone who is looking for differences distinct enough to classify humans into biological groups. You could not be more wrong. There are no genetic differences worthy of classification.

Skin colors of humans are only shades of brown. These shades evolved according to the amount of sunlight that ancient groups of dark brown people experienced in the places to which they migrated after leaving Africa.

Your awkward descriptions of humans don’t leave much to the imagination. You seem to be mentally stuck in the early to mid 20th century.

If white people wanted to retain political power, they'd have more kids.
