The most common age among whites in U.S. is 58 - more than double that of racial and ethnic minorites
I've been watching live feeds on the street, most of the people, except for the assorted big city druggies, homeless, and gangbangers, the big stupid crowds are really young. I was struck by this graph but haven't fully worked out all it's implications.

Can someone please explain to me why we differentiate between white and hispanic.
Hispanics are european in their cultural origin.
Is a third generation mexican-american named Matt Vallero less white than a 5th generation Italian or Slav?

Bill Clinton caused the black baby boom. Who knew?

I don't think so. I think Hispanic refers to Spanish speaking, from the new world. Real Spanish people are European/Caucasian.

This isn't entirely true.

I've always wonder at what point do you stop being hispanic and start being white. I'm 3rd generation hispanic with a super hispanic last name, yet look like your average white guy. Family is from Costa Rica FWIW.

I understand that Hispanic is an ethnicity and not a race, but if you are going to include it on a chart with white, black, multiracial, etc. then clearly you they are making a distinction between white and hispanic(when normally you can pick both). So I'm just curious at what point is that line drawn.

The line should be drawn if you are an American or not.

Most of the hispanic/race confusion in the U.S. comes from Mexico. A large majority of the Mexican people are native Americans, like the Aztec. There is a direct mix of various Spanish and Europeans in general but the population of Mexico was so large that the native populations are still largely represented. Large portions of central and south america have bigger overall European demographics

The simplest way to explain this is that kids are expensive and boomers have left us with an economic climate that makes responsible Millennials wary of starting a family.

I’ve never heard of the silent generation.
Good job on that name.

Would be 60 since the graph is from 2018.
Would also explain why whites might have such a large share of wealth. More older people that have had time to accumulate it

If they're trying to compare racial breakdowns, they should not include the Hispanic ethnicity. Those folks have a race also.

Just like the left has done, we need to play the long game. Have more children, get them out of public school, move to rural communities, and organize. The tide can be turned.
Plus I think Hispanics will gravitate right as the years pass.

WW2 military was largely white. Four years of war and then they came home and produced the boomers. Blacks and Hispanic people participated but not to the same degree for various reasons. I had a good friend with Hispanic name but they are white and I bet he never checks the Hispanic box.
