The left’s argument: Acosta’s arm chop wasn’t that hard guise

Is the argument really that the speed of Acosta’s arm chop wasn’t enough to get him kicked out?

I’ve seen the gif and the video; it looks almost imperceptible, and (can’t believe I’m saying this) buzzfeed actually did a good comparison of what happens when an image gets put in gif form.

It’s a meaningless difference.

Acosta was behaving completely out of line with his actions that included trying to hog the mic and not letting others ask questions. He wanted to make a spectacle of himself. That’s not journalism.

This is all so fricking stupid.

When a reporter is tossed whomever he/she works for should not be allowed to send a replacement for 6 months. No press briefings, no AF 1 trips, etc.

Second offense, make it a year or longer.

indeed, he started his line of questions to the president with, "I challenge you".

Say what?

How about just asking a simple question Jim, and forget the challenge.

Anybody that thinks Jim “karate chop” Acosta should ever be allowed to have a WH press pass again is an idiot. That was an embarrassment to real journalism.

Why is Acosta always front row center? Park his arse in the back and ignore him. Numerous other reporters aren’t able to get their questions answered either

So Trump can toss a reporter for any reason and they are out 6 months? Imagine if the devil Obama had that power when he was in office.

Who says he didn’t? Who would he have wanted to toss?

Correct.
and more importantly Acosta's colleagues, many of whom are now taking up for him, have long known Acosta sullies their profession.

Jim Acosta’s Dangerous Brand of Performance Journalism
TODD S. PURDUM
AUG 7, 2018

The verb to accost comes from the old French that meant “to sail up close to a ship or a shoreline.” CNN’s Jim Acosta lived up to his patronymic (which has comparable coastal roots in Portuguese and Spanish) when he confronted White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders with guns blazing last week, demanding to know if she shared Donald Trump’s belief that the press is the enemy of the American people.

... Even stipulate, if you wish, that his question was a cri de coeur and not a showy bid for clicks and ratings in the debased ritual of performance art that the White House briefing has become.

But acknowledge this also, please: Whenever a reporter who has not been kidnapped by terrorists, shot by an assailant, or won a big prize becomes an actor in her own story, she has lost the fight. Or in this case, reinforced the corrosive, cynical, and deeply dangerous feedback loop that has convinced Trump’s most fervent supporters that his relentless brief against the press has merit: FAKE NEWS! SAD!
....

The last thing Trump—or the press, or the public—needs is another convenient villain in the performative arena of the long-running reality show that is his administration. Acosta’s broadside blurs the line between reporting and performance, between work and war, at a time when journalists have a greater obligation than ever to demonstrate that what they do is real, and matters—and is not just part of the passing show.

Oh you mean the same Obama that had email records seized from a Fox reporter? Or the other journalists at the AP who had their records seized? Or when he banned news photographers from official events?

Just help me out here, I am having a hard time understanding.

I thought the Dems were so concerned about women during the Kavanaugh process. They are claiming it was the woman's fault.

I guess its only liberal women they care about.

Whatever. He definitely "put his hands on her" in an aggressive manner. That coupled with him acting like a member of fricking code pink in the press corps, and VOILA!. Bye bye press pass

I wanted Acosta out as much as anyone, but it's the Whitehouse's own fault for not boxing him out long before now.

Nothing says he must be called on. Nothing says he gets a front row seat.

Loads of reporters are supposedly angry with Jim Accoster for grandstanding all the time for this exact reason.

I don't think Trump should call on CNN anymore. Sarah can continue dealing with it she does well. Acosta got the attn whoring he wanted.

Past Presidents have the questions and answer set up ahead. Trump gonna be Trump, if CNN wants to preach their politics tell them to sit down or leave.

good Lord, people. He was acting like an entitled arse with his questions. He should’ve surrendered the mic.

But all this nonsense about striking, pushing, karate chops, assault and battery? he brushed away (almost imperceptibly) the hand of someone who touched him first.

You’re acting like children.
