Can he pardon her and get her out ASAP? If so, why didn't he?

Woman just became a martyr overnight.

Agreed. This whole, "sheesh you were tough on her" schtick is bullshite. Pardon her. Piss in that judge's cheerios and rebuke the judge for overstepping his bounds.

Letter is too short. Last paragraph should read:
"Your ridiculous request to have this business owner apologize for trying to save her business and livelihood is unconscionable, and the very face of tyranny that all real Americans abhor. Either you fix this untenable situation forthwith, or I shall issue an executive pardon that kicks you in the arse so hard, it will make your nose bleed. Your move."

That is a real pussy response from Abbott...

Governor Abbott should have addressed the judge as Judge Karen.

It was. It means the executive order is unenforceable especially when it conflicts with constitutional rights. The only purpose of the executive order is to hope people voluntarily comply and to get federal funds.

All the letter should have said is "Judge, you have until the end of business today to free Ms. Luther from custody."

Translation: I issued a stupid executive order. Police should not enforce it, and Judges should not apply it. But people should listen to it. Because.

While I agree it's excessive, I love the inclusion of "Texas mother." Certainly pulls the heartstrings more than if this would've been an SMU frat boy.

What a world we live in. Releasing inmates considered at risk of COVID while locking up someone for going to work.

He's talking out of both sides of his mouth.
