Indy journo Sarah Fields is covering the trial. She posted on Facebook:

quote:

For those asking, yes, I had protection with me. Every move I made at the courthouse, I was not alone. Most people there knew exactly who I was.

I was followed around by several individuals, and notes were taken regarding their descriptions. Many stared me down with what appeared to be either hatred or an attempt at intimidation.

It won’t work.

And yes, I was dressed professionally in a full pantsuit with a blazer. Meanwhile, some Anthony supporters were allowed into the courthouse looking like they had just rolled out of bed. Since this was only jury selection, security and dress standards may have been more relaxed. Some were even wearing Apple Watches.

When opening arguments begin on the 4th in Judge Roach’s courtroom, I would be surprised if people are allowed in dressed that way.
The complete lack of respect for court proceedings was appalling, but not surprising

quote:

Several women who claimed to be from California arrived wearing purple shirts, purple hoodies, jeans, and purple do-rags wrapped around their heads. Others wore tank tops, shorts, hoodies, baseball caps, and other casual attire that appeared inconsistent with what most people would consider courtroom business attire. (purple is Karmelo‘s favorite color)...

A short time later, I witnessed sheriff’s deputies escorting an African-American woman out of the courthouse hallway. She was wearing a pink shirt with lace sleeves.

Deputies were accusing her of jury tampering.

I later learned she was allegedly connected to the Anthony family and had reportedly been caught recording members of the jury pool.

Outside the courthouse, the atmosphere was just as interesting.
Several supporters of Karmelo Anthony were livestreaming on TikTok and wearing Karmelo-themed shirts.

There were also multiple members of the Black Panther movement present....

Based on my observations throughout the morning, the crowd appeared to be overwhelmingly around 95 percent Karmelo supporters

Seems like in this case that jury selection should be closed to the public.

Supporting a cold-blooded murderer simply because he's black. Sad, disgusting and so predictable.

Not supposed to have electronic devices in courtroom unless approved by court. That includes Apple Watches. I never wear my Garmin to court for this reason.

Yeah, things are on edge here in Frisco. My son wants to attend the trial since he knew Austin and knows some of the witnesses. I don’t trust the Anthony camp one bit and they’ve already done enough swatting, doxxing and threatening. I don’t think it’s a good idea for him to attend. But he’s 19 years old so…

Gotchya. I see now where she mentions security as being amongst the courtroom standards that had been neglected in addition to dress code and decorum.

In America we have one segment of the population that will say frick that guy if he kills someone he gets what he deserves...another segment will defend their own no matter what if the crime involves killing/violence against a white person...yet one side is considered racist Until people hold their own accountable this country will always have problems

The prosecution should push for a bench trial.

The risk of bias with any amount of black jurors is too high.

Prosecution can't ask for bench trial. Defendant has right to jury but can ask for one. That happened with the Baltimore police officers. Just like prosecution can't ask for venue change.

Black Panthers were there but I expect them to be here the entire trial. The Anthony family has a large network of people they will bring in to “support” them this whole trial. I’m not sure the official BLM were there but I’m not that worried about them.

These people are disgusting pigs. They will all pack the local Chili's, order waters with lemon, run their server all over the place requesting gallons of ranch dressing, send food back, ect ect and completely stiff their server because the server is white.
