It can be, and is, both. That nuance is probably a little too much for Trump Loyalists, though.

Anybody who believes the immigration bill was about immigration is stupid.

That bill would let 1.9 million illegals in per year legally. It was a bipartisan pork bill which included 10s of billions to Ukraine.

Biden has the power at this second to enforce the immigration laws that he undid from Trump. He doesn’t want to do that. He wants to fingerpoint at the GOP for not passing the pork bill. He’s a career senator it’s what he does

I’ve been told by Trumpkins that it was Trump who sabotaged border protection.

I am operating in that shared reality until shown otherwise.

Trump’s the real problem amirite? The only way to get rid of him is to root for Biden to send him packing. It’s totally worth it. Trump’s THAT bad.

No shite. They never criticize Biden just blame Trump and attack ppl who support him. They really don’t realize never Trump is same as the left.

"Trump then continued saying that he would only be for the bipartisan border legislation if it is a “great border bill” that would solve the “problem.”

“I did say that you have, if you’re not gonna get a great border bill, an immigration bill, don’t do a bill,” Trump continued. “If it’s not going to be good, if it’s not going to solve the border problem, don’t do the bill. And that was very important to me and lot of people do call me, they respect and say ‘what do you think.’ If the bill is not going to be a great bill and really solve the problem, I wouldn’t do it at all. Not for political reasons, just for U.S. reasons.”

I wonder what people who throw this around think will come from spending time whining about Biden around here.

First of all let's get one thing straight. The GOP, Trump and the House don't need to and can't "fix" the border. All it would take is aggressive enforcement of existing laws. That's on Biden.

The fact that Trump is as ineffective and wishy washy as Biden should piss you off, he's supposed to be better.

Joe's mentally deficient.

DC Republicans traditionally (and unfortunately) aren’t shrewd enough to play an effective game of checkers much less multi-dimensional chess.

Trump already was president and didn’t stop Illegal Immigration he failed miserably. It’s too late at this point with 30 to 40 million of them already here they are going to end up wrecking this country and Americans citizens are to blame. We didn’t put a stop to it. The federal government under no administration really wants to stop it. The idea that Illegal Immigrants only came here under Carter, Clinton, Obama and Biden and not Reagan, Bush I, Bush II or Trump isn’t based in reality. We’ve had an open border for over 40 years now.

Stop blaming Johnson. He’s the best speaker we’ve had in 15 years.

My dog could get elected speaker, bark at the entire chamber and that would make her the best speaker in the last 15 years.

I feel like the GOP wants the bord r to be a huge deal but I struggle with it being a big deal. It's a mess but I'm not seeing the impact here...

I think it would be helpful to you here to mention the fact that those 30 to 40 million you referenced quite noticeably did not come here on Trump’s watch, but instead on Biden’s watch. Pretty significant consideration that throws your premise there into serious doubt.

It is a big deal in Texas, and we're seeing the effect of "boarder crashers" in Houston, 350 miles from the southern border.
