They should have hired a qualified engineer first, then a qualified/approved crew.

Exactly. Wouldn't have mattered who was piloting the thing.

Why would you think that?

Just because the FAA director doesn't know what a stall is?

But he hires trans people, so he knows what he is doing

I think he might have done the same thing with his engineering staff.

Unfortunately so did a few underwater tourists who trusted the wrong eccentric billionaire. Would been more fitting if the guy went down solo.

Also 50 year old white guys who understand what is involved would not get in that thing.

Hire a Navy Sub guy and hand him a Play Station controller and he’s walking out.

Maybe they should investigate if he and his passengers have large debts or bitchy wives.

I am old enough to remember a a pedestrian walkway that was built with the same mentality.

This is how you dumb fricks are spinning this? Looks to me more like “anti-regulation rich guy fires qualified engineer after safety issues broached, ignoring known structural inadequacies of submarine, effectively murdering his clients and killing himself: previously claims regarding submarine design by said anti-regulation rich guy, ‘You know, at some point, safety just is pure waste. I mean if you just want to be safe, don't get out of bed, don't get in your car, don't do anything. At some point, you're going to take some risk, and it really is a risk/reward question. I think I can do this just as safely by breaking the rules.’”
