I do like your optimism and high regard for the intelligence of the American voter. However, observation tells me it will be a slugfest during the 2026 midterms and the 2028 POTUS election.
The Dem's propaganda machine will be in full operating mode as ballots continue to be harvested.

I've seen dementia up close, and I know what it looks like, and it looks EXACTLY like Joe Biden.
Biden obviously had some very substantial dementia during the 2020 campaign. No one, at least not Democrats and the MSM, cared.
While in office, his dementia progressed to severe and was obvious to anyone who had eyes. No one, at least not Democrats and the MSM, cared.
I don't really care whether they were covering up his cancer, but I do think it's interesting that we're only learning about it now when there's been more and more talk of his dementia. I strongly suspect his team only released news of his cancer to distract from the dementia, playing on a "don't speak ill of the dead (or the dying)" sentiment.
Agaim, no one cares, at least no one who can do anything about it.

For the midterms? It’ll come down to who is going to do stuff they want.
-improve the economy
-Cut spending
-cut DEI
-Do something about immigration
Trump is doing all those things, the GOPe in Congress isn’t doing any of those things but the DNC officials in Congress are for them.
But without Trump on the ballot to drag the GOPe to the finish line and without Musk who they completely ignored with DOGE to spend no I don’t fully know what to expect with regards to the house as it stands today.

Nothing will come of it just like nothing has come of the Trump Collusion hoax, just like nothing has come of the Burisma influence buying, just like the Clinton Foundation/Haiti scandal, just like the COVID persecutions, etc.
If the Left does it, the media ignores it or attempts to paint it in a positive light (part of which is to call detractors "conspiracy theorists"). If the Right does it, then it's 24/7 hardcore coverage. Currently, much of the major media (those who were engaged in the willing ignoring of Biden's obvious dementia) are lining up to try to glom some sympathy from Jake Tapper's book where he claims he was #MeToo'd on Biden's dementia. They are all looking for some even barely plausible shield and Tapper is running point like Leroy Jenkins.
At best, you'll see some of the media turn on Tapper or vague accusations which amount to "others", but they damned won't take responsibility and they damned won't learn enough of a lesson to drop their yellow journalism and start sticking to the path of objectivity.
Watergate was a surprise to everyone thus it was a feeding frenzy. Biden's dementia was a defended secret so the former defenders are just going to Homer Simpson it as much as possible.
At least until they can bloviate something new about OMB into a "scandal". Qatari plane, anyone? Anyone?
