Your Faith (if you have it) should determine your ultimate pov and whether or not it is positive or dystopian. Those OU players that just won the Women’s CWS nailed it in a great pregame interview. This is the fulfillment of Prophecy and the logic of it makes perfect rational/logical sense. It’s all about acceptance of and service to the false idea of ‘coerced’ equity. Of the which Lucifer desired, be envious of God. “Behold, there is a way that seemeth right unto man, but the end thereof is destruction “. Humanity will learn it’s final and definitive lesson out of the coming calamity. And even though I know this, like you, every time I look into the pure eyes of my great granddaughter it weighs on me as well. Suffering is as much a valuable part of character building as is ease and happiness. It pays off big time in the long run. Lord have mercy on them who worship true love.

God shut some volatile doors in my life post-Covid and opened better ones. I stopped asking Him for anything else and just started thanking Him for the blessings I’ve already received.

I’m your age HT, and I’ve lived the same arc pretty much, just coming from the left (I voted for Gore in my first election). We arrived at the same place and the same basic conclusion. I used to believe that reason and science could lead us to the promised land, but I am now convinced that spirituality is what we need more than ever. We participate in the creation of this world just as much as we discover it, and if you bring nothing but cold calculation to the situation you will find yourself in a cold world. It’s a simple metaphor but I think of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road a good bit these days. We have to carry the fire.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
That’s why I rarely, if ever, engage with vitriol in right vs left. It is warfare of spiritual variety. Maybe it’s always been this way.
Two things opened my eyes more than anything as an adult: reering/protecting my child. Getting sober/clean. My perspective is vastly different these days.

You sound like me- I always voted 3rd party until Trump came along. Proud to say I never voted for Daddy or son Bush. As bad as Clinton was I knew Obama was a smoke screen. Still can't believe people voted Obama without knowing his Commie past. I used to proudly vote ever since the 70's, but I have really become disillusioned with this country, it is rotten beyond control. The CIA, FBI, history books, media, all of it, lies!

It was either purposely held from us, or they didn't know themselves just how entrenched something called marxism had already become even as far back as the '50s.

I heard a guy on a podcast the other week say that by far the largest voting bloc was the group of people who just quit voting because they knew it didn’t count anymore and made up of mostly middle class working people . He was right . That group has been sold out since NAFTA who they had to get a Democrat in to get it passed. Bush I wanted to get it through but couldn’t get the support.

Waco was sold to kids my age as a religious death cult with a leader proclaiming to be the coming Messiah. I clearly remember that angle being sold.

These past few years showed me I was naive; thought it was just greed and corruption. I was not expecting global evil, intricate details, and long range cunning. Much worse than I thought.
