on the election ballot. First of all, its too damn many to be on the ballot. Where in the world can I find an explanation as to what I am voting for. I am 76 years old and very conservative, a homeowner, still empoyed, semi retired and seriously considering voting NO for all 10. Can anybody let me know if I need to vote YES, and why, for any of them.
TIA
TIA

No on everything. Standard rule of thumb for LA politicians.

I use that every time there are new proposed Amendments. They do a really good job of explaining the pros & cons of each amendment.

Every one will get defeated. The fricking GOP needs to get their heads out of their arse, call a constitutional convention, and start over.

For me: No to any tax exemption. No to most tax renewals (doesn't matter, they still pass).
No to unnecessary amendments for things that aren't issues, and/or don't need to be in the constitution.
Hell no. This will be a tax increase in the long term, and would allow taxing authorities to propose and likely pass higher "just in case we need it" rates.
Sure. Though I doubt JBE will run anyways.
Seems like common sense to pay the highest interest debt first instead of the oldest.

quote:
CA No. 2 (ACT No. 273, 2026-RS - HB 521) - Allows taxing authority to continue lower millage rate without losing ability to adjust to max rate

quote:
CA No. 4 (ACT No. 414, 2026-RS - HB 225) - Sets a lifetime term limit on a person who has served as governor more than one and one-half terms
Sure. Though I doubt JBE will run anyways.

CA No. 5 (ACT No. 606, 2026-RS - HB 27) - Authorizes retirement systems to apply funds to any unfunded accrued liability, not only the oldest
Seems like common sense to pay the highest interest debt first instead of the oldest.

Certainly would be wiser to understand them and decide, but I vote “No” on at least 80% of them.

So you have a definte yes on 2 of them? If so, which ones?

I haven’t seen them. I meant historically I vote “No” on at least 80%. In the last election there were five. I voted “No” on all except the one that would allow St George to have its own school system.

Every one of the proposed amendments were passed by the very conservative House and Senate by super majority votes.
As others have said here, PAR does an excellent job of explaining the pros and cons of the proposed amendments.

I’m voting no on raising the retirement age for judges bc the Brothers Johnson in East Baton Rouge need to just go away.
You can still be a judge after seventy. But once a judge gets elected, it’s basically a lifetime appointment anyway.
The retirement age also got rid of that Bernette Johnson on the LASC, and thank goodness.
