Texas House members call for speaker’s resignation after Senate acquits Paxton
Posted by WPBTiger

quote:
After the Senate voted to acquit Attorney General Ken Paxton of all charges levied against him by the House General Investigating Committee on Saturday, several members of the House who voted against impeaching Paxton called on House Speaker Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont, to resign.
In an interview with The Center Square, Rep. Steve Toth, R-Spring, said Phelan should apologize and resign. He said the acquittal “isn’t just an exoneration [of Paxton]. It’s a repudiation of the Texas House. The Texas House owes not just Texas but the entire United States an apology for what they did.
”This was so wrong. We were told there would be evidence upon evidence upon evidence upon witnesses upon witnesses and there was nothing. It is a complete embarrassment for Texas, the Texas House, the speaker. The speaker needs to resign.”
quote:
Rep. Brian Harrison, R-Waxahachie, also called on Phelan to resign. In a lengthy statement, he applauded the Senate for “conducting a fair and transparent trial and for reaching a verdict that was obviously correct given the shocking lack of evidence. The Texas House leadership, who misled and pressured Republicans to join a Democrat effort to overturn the election, has, possibly irreparably, disgraced itself and tarnished the reputation of the entire Texas House.
“The staggering incompetence and dishonest conduct on display by the leadership of the Texas House, House General Investigating Committee, and Board of Managers must be repudiated.”

I'm sure lots of House Repubs are going to try to find a way to get above water for voting to move this sham forward. Would be funny if he did resign cause iirc Paxton called for phelan to resign for being drunk on the job, and then he impeached him.
TX Repubs can't have a guy like this phelan guy as it's leader if they want to be taken seriously. Seems like Patrick and Paxton are ready to ride, so Abbott needs to tag along. Now all they need is a new house leader, and maybe with some special sessions TX can get back into the good graces of true American/Texas style conservativism. Maybe even TEXIT can have a chance. Good luck!

This is a nice backhand that I hope catches on.

Well, chill is a proven dumba$$ in his own words on a daily basis.

So you are telling me the House voted to impeach without evidence? I get the speaker might have screwed up, but isn't that on the reps? How can you vote to impeach based on the "promise of evidence?" You dropped the ball just as much as the speaker.
At least it seems that way from this outsider's perspective.

The final statement at this hearing before the matter of impeaching him was closed... said that these very people rushed it all through with no evidence.
They need voted out and GFT. The Bush's should go to Maine or Wyoming with Dick.

And so it begins. The purging of the Phelan - Uniparty - Bush - Biden coalition.
The People of Texas have spoken. We're tired of our state being overrun by foreign invaders. We're tired of Biden's failed immigration, and economic policies. Policies that have hurt Texas families.
Ken Paxton is GOAT.

Screw them. They should have never voted for the impeachment in the first place. I swear half the TX house republicans are copies of AggieHank.

I love how they are calling him out personally like the dirty cuck he is
It’s happening ….
Conservative Lawmakers, Donald Trump Call for Dade Phelan’s Removal - Texas Scorecard

Conservative Lawmakers, Donald Trump Call for Dade Phelan’s Removal - Texas Scorecard
quote:
The political fallout is already growing from inside the House ….
State Rep. Tony Tinderholt (R-Arlington) told Texas Scorecard that Phelan needs to leave office – either voluntarily or by a vote of the chamber.
“I think he should immediately resign, or we should vacate the chair as soon as possible,” said Tinderholt. “He said in his statement that he thanks the ‘brave’ 123 members of the house who pushed for the impeachment. He failed to mention that there were more Democrats than Republicans in that number. That made it a speaker and Democrat-led witch hunt against the most effective attorney general in the country. I also read his disdain for those of us who didn’t do as he wanted. He has destroyed the legitimacy and integrity of the Texas House and the history of it, along with those who serve and have served within its walls for the people of Texas.”
State Rep. Brian Harrison (R-Midlothian) blasted Phelan on the social media platform X. “Speaker Phelan must step down now for empowering this Democrat effort while killing Republican priorities. I am also demanding the State Auditor investigate how much tax money this wasted.”
President Donald Trump, who has been strongly supportive of Paxton throughout the ordeal, is similarly calling for Phelan’s removal.
“It is time that Speaker Dade Phelan resign after pushing this Disgraceful Sham!” Trump posted to his own platform, Truth Social.
State Rep. Matt Schaefer (R-Tyler) was disappointed in the tone of Phelan’s statement after the verdict.
“The only response from Speaker Phelan and the Texas House should be humility,” Schaefer said in a statement to Texas Scorecard. “The impeachment process was a debacle. Had we known what would come to light during the Senate trial, the vote in the House would have been very different. Process matters. In fact, the impeachment should have never happened. It was a complete leadership failure. Meanwhile, the Texas border is on fire. For all the talk of courage to do the right thing, the House sure has a lot of challenges that haven’t been addressed.”
State Rep. Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands) was likewise disappointed by the House leadership’s actions. He wrote, “The duo of Phelan and Murr asked members to blindly walk the plank.” He added that Murr and Phelan had claimed there was evidence to “put Paxton away.”
“They lied and now these House Members will face the scorn of voters in March,” wrote Toth.
Political analyst Luke Macias told Texas Scorecard that Toth’s assessment is correct.
“We are on track for having a record number of challengers against incumbent Republicans in the Texas House,” said Macias. Conservatives are rallying around ousting the status quo. Democrat chairs have to go, and the Texas House has to wake up. We are willing to accept many of these members back if they will just admit they were wrong.”
Filing for the 2024 primary election begins on Saturday, November 11, 2023, and closes at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023.

cwill and boozie have to be the same person. There is no way two people exist who are both as pompously politically naive to their globohomo predisposition as those train wrecks of humans.
Simply put, this is the America First group Vs the Uniparty-Globalist-Bush crew who side with the Dems against America First. We have to purge the Uniparty-Globalist-Bush crew ASAP. Their time is up.

Ken Paxton is GOAT.
He's not close to being the goat.

Then they should have impeached him on that instead rather than making shite up.
The problem with making shite up is that, once the lies are exposed, it makes it that much harder for any truths involved to be taken seriously.

If you grow up in a shithole and climb a little in the economic scale, you start to think you’re better than the shithole you were raised in. They’re just trash who think they’ve made it.
