Good point. Except they lose money on every car they produce. So increased revenue means negative free cash flow. Their cash burn is astounding. They are securing loans with refundable deposits and they will have to tap the equity markets for another cash raise. Their bonds are junk and selling at $.90 to par. This company is a mess. Oh and they can't hit a production target to save their lives lol so in short it's extremely easy to see BK due to the fact they won't be able to raise cash to fund operations when the debt markets are shutting them out and their stock price is falling like a knife.

I see all the non-stop Tesla hate from this forum all the time.

So much so, you would think I would be attacked on sight for driving mine.

But alas, all you people here are the ones drooling in your rear views, pulling up, trying to get my attention to ask me a silly question... "How do your door handles work" , taking pictures, etc etc.

BTW, it would be amazing if you guys actually educated yourselves on how the Tesla subsidies actually work, and who ACTUALLY benefits....

This guy is going to take us to the moon, yet for some reason, everyone wants him to fail..... Actually, just those of you with the fixed mindset.

And the same ones rooting for it to fail are the ones rooting for a gov subsidy of the steel and coal industries so I don’t buy whatever nonsense is spun about leeching off of taxpayers.

One group has a large market, pays lots of taxes and employs 100's of thousands, while the other sells 1000 vehicles a year subsidized by the government. That said, generically I agree with your subsidies comment...not so much on the tariff end if it's used as a bluff card.

I agree. The part I’m struggling with is how the people who: Cheers Tesla's supposed demise because American jobs shouldn’t be subsidized with taxpayer funds...

are the same people who: Cheer tariffs to subsidize the steel industry because it will save American jobs.

It doesn’t come down to a cohesive perspective on any of it, some sort of guiding principle on the matter. I don’t get it

Clearly you are stupid.

Imposing a tariff on imported goods to allow domestic goods a chance to compete is not even close to the same thing as giving a company actual tax money. NOt even close. It is clear that you confused a tariff with a subsidy, which actually would be tax payer money given to a US company (exactly what was done for Tesla in fact)

At the end of the day both have the government taking money out of American pockets to redistribute to a particular company/industry.

I obviously am not speaking for the millions who would cheer, but here’s my rationale.

If a person or industry is being outcompeted fairly, then tariffs are wrong.
But if they are being subsidized, or are dumping for market share, or are environmentally wrecking the planet, or are killing or maiming people for competitive reasons then I’m for tariffs.

It’s not really all that complicated.

False, a fricking tariff imposed on items imported into this country does not cost US tax payers any tax payer money..

God damn some of you people are mind boggling stupid.

Its the same people who cheer when people like stephen hawking or christopher hitchens die. There's a large group of people who just don't see the importance of pioneers in the advancement of technology, or simply have an issue with people who are naturally very smart. When that tesla was launched into space or when the rockets returned safely there were plenty to cheer about how cool it was, but make no mistake, there were plenty sitting on the sidelines hoping for it to fail so they could come here to bitch about the taxes or how dumb the idea was in the first place as a 'gotcha' to science. There were probably a few of their ancestors hoping the moon landing would fail as well.

To me, this is so spot on that it feels like I wrote it. These people overlap strongly with the ones that hate science and believe it's out to destroy their precious religion.

They do, but their research and development spending as a percentage of its revenue is also also spend 2 to 3 times the typical car manufacturer. That's not surprising, but I think it's something that one would expect even hope to see if we're looking to figure growth and profitability potential.

With the potential of things like self-driving cars, and Tesla's "techie" reputation, I do think there is a lot of potential that is ridiculous for that investor to ignore.

Not to bringing science so much closer to the living rooms of millions. We'll never know just how many people were and continue to be inspired by Stephen Hawking.

Whether the costs are indirectly passed down to the consumer via an import tax, through higher prices and less purchasing power, or direct costs in the firm of a tax, the final cost is all that matters. And at least the tax is a more transparent "screw you."

So when the government puts a tariff up on importing widgets and their price goes up from $10 to $13, who pays for the increase? How does that not cost us money?
