Good. Tesla does nothing but rape the environment for their filthy batteries using slave labor in the Congo. Then turn around and charge $100k for a car that can only go 250 miles

How many miles do you get on a tank of gas?

I meant to short Tesla a few months ago and forgot. Think I will now.

What are Tesla's profit margin, cash flows from operations and tax burden? That'll tell you what you need to know.

Weren't they getting a sweetheart deal on federal taxation for a while?

My wife's suv with just a 18 gallon tank get over 300 miles a tank. I can refill it in less than 5 minutes.

What was your point to this?

“Companies eventually have to make a profit, and I don’t ever see that happening here,” he told MarketWatch. “This is one of the worst income statements I’ve ever seen and between the story and the financials, the financials will win out in this case.”
It's revenue has increased by almost 80% per year over the last 8 years. So despite the losses, it's hard to see how a company with that much revenue growth would suddenly go bankrupt when their losses aren't exactly a surprise to anyone.

I like Musk and would drive a Tesla if it made sense for my lifestyle. I really love that S.

This is an interesting thing from the article though
quote:

“As a reality check, Tesla is worth twice as much as Ford [estimate of the enterprise value of both companies], yet Ford F made 6 million cars last year at a $7.6 billion profit while Tesla made 100,000 cars at a $2 billion loss,” Thompson said. “Further, Ford has $12 billion in cash held for ‘a rainy day’ while Tesla will likely run out of money in the next 3 months. I’ve never seen anything so absurd in my career.”

Tesla declined to comment on Thompson’s views.

This guy has been short a long time. But there are cracks in the Tesla armor. They don’t make any money, the craftsmanship is questionable, production is lacking and Elon is a weird dude (flamethrowers? Deleting company Facebook accounts)

Vilas Capital Management.
Am I missing something here, or is there something really backwards about his investment strategy? Look at the January 2nd to March 27th figures, it seems like his strategy is the complete opposite of what is happening in reality

Vilas Fund Partner Up 65% In 2017: Short Tesla Inc (TSLA) Is Now Largest Holding
quote:

Our holdings of auto stocks (Honda, Daimler, Ford and GM) have generated far more profits than our loss in Tesla
All 4 of his "holdings" are down, and down 10% on average, only slightly better than Tesla's 13% that he is shorting, and it was only down 5% as of yesterday, and 40% of today's loss came after this article.
quote:

Target, Kroger, CVS, Walgreens, WW Grainger and Express Scripts, have dramatically outperformed our short position in Amazon.
And only 2 of these stocks he's holding has made any gains this year (15% WW Grainger; 1% Target) the rest of them are down and all 6 are down an average of almost 6%. Meanwhile, Amazon, which he is shorting is up almost 26%.
quote:

And finally, our position in Viacom has nearly offset our loss in Netflix
And Viacom is down almost 5% while his Netflix is up 57%.

So the 11 companies that he lists as holding, 9 are down over the year, and they are down about 7% on average.

Meanwhile, over the companies he's shorting, 2 are up over they year, both of which are well outperforming his best holding, and they are up 23% on average, even considering that 60% Tesla's losses are from today, and 40% of that is after this article.

I don't know, but he doesn't seem like the most trustworthy source, despite last year's gains.

As polished as our new Tesla Model S looks on the road, closer inspection reveals that it has some flaws in the craftsmanship

Tesla forums are littered with complaints about fit and finish.

The manufacturing woes appear to be causing a wide variety of quality issues in early versions of the Model 3. Online Tesla forums are rife with comments from some of those lucky enough to have the car in hand. They're griping about dead batteries, leaking tail lamps, protruding headlights, door rattles, and body panels that don't line up — and in many cases, they've got photos to back it up.

Model S, X & 3 all have complaints on the craftsmanship

Below the belt. Companies in the MIC provide for muh military readiness so they don’t count as sweetheart deals.
