Agreed.

The government wants to control everything you do and the Progressives want to take everything you have.

I will fight both of them until my last breath

I believe in a progressive tax rate.

I believe that everyone pays the same percentage. It's really easy to take from others without being willing to give up your own.

Again and again, this is shown to not be true.

I assume you didn't read the entire post. Do some digging into the tax cuts of the 1980's.

My biggest concern is that the lower and middle class get a break.

The lower class should be paying federal income taxes. They need skin in the game. And, every time a democrat talks about raising taxes, they will be impacted too. Meanwhile, every time a republican talks about lowering taxes, they should be impacted too. Right now, there is no incentive for the bottom 47% to object to raising taxes...and the government is already a behemoth.

A reasonably progressive tax structure is something most could accept (even though it is truly unfair).

I'll answer the question with a question why is it okay to increase the tax rate as you make more money?

why does it not just stay consistent?

If we accept the premise that we all have equal rights equal opportunity and we're all equal... How is it fair that one man's tax rate is higher than another's?

Because Fair Share.

"Fair Share" being whatever I feel it is. Feel being the key word here.

Yep, same here on Long Island. Tons of taxes and I have great schools and a public pool (virtually free) and golf course (very minimal fees) within walking distance. And the cops come in about three minutes and so does the ambulance if some trouble happens. I have no problem paying taxes.

That is completely unrelated to the level of federal taxation.

I agree they don't. But my point is I don't care. My position is liberty-based, not impact based. Rich people shouldn't have to carry most of the country's burden due to our reckless entitlement dilemma. Gun owners shouldn't be limited because of cultural rot or our inability to effectively handle mental illness.

Entitlement plus MIC dilemma. Spending is out of control but somehow there's no bad dollar spent on the military. There's lots of cuts that need to be made, but no one wants to do it. Rich people have a disproportionate amount of impact on legislation so I'm not shedding a tear about the burden they carry if they don't use their influence to get all spending under control.

Tax breaks without spending cuts is a fiscally irresponsible thing to do.

And maybe it is about time we become equally socialistic here.

Just look at the cartoon Richie Rich and how much money he has, where is the equivalent for coal miner's sons?

Taxes should be reduced for everyone because the government takes enough already.

The Fed Gov can reduce administrative positions to free up money if they need to.

You want a cartoon about a rich coal miner's son?

Also, this. Our government is an overloaded, gluttonous, black hole of wasteful spending. Cut that shite out.

I get the sentiment but the national debt keeps going up so unfortunately the fed gov isn't taking in enough, much less taking in too much.

There is absolutely no guarantee the money will not be wasted by FedGov.

If I made 60,000 a year and I was spending 50,000 on living expense and 20,000 on yacht insurance and docking fees, thus creating an 10,000 debt every year would you say I wasn't making enough or I was way overspending?

Their spending keeps increasing while tax receipts are increasing.

The problem is on the spending side not the intake side.

Don't waste your time. People who think like him aren't worth arguing with.
