Was this before or after it was emptied by military evacuation when the President* said that would never happen?

Either you're poorly informed in regards to those "Security Alerts", or you're intentionally ignoring a few of them.

You are one of the 87% of Democrats who still fully back Biden, aren’t you?

So, the State Department has been telling people for months to leave because the Taliban was going to take over, while the Whitehouse has been stating that the Taliban would not take over, followed by the full withdrawal of all military from Afghanistan prior to the withdrawal of all civilians and contractors?

Do you realize that that actually makes Biden’s administration look even worse?

He rejected the intelligence reports that you say everyone on the ground was being given, since they were all told to leave.

Your loyalty to Biden is worse than Trump supporters is to Trump.

Hell, you are pulling the whole “if you wouldn’t have worn that dress, you wouldn’t have been raped” defense.

I thought you progressives were against that.

The military has started its withdrawal.

Supposedly only evacuating US Citizens now. No afghans.

I hope the airport is not overrun by civilians before we get out. What happens if civilians overrun and attack troops who have to shoot civilians to defend themselves.

Decatur would be demanding Trump's resignation if the orange man did all the same things.

I would be demanding his resignation if he did this, and I voted for the man.

Level 4 - Do Not Travel - April 27, 2021

quote:

Do not travel to Afghanistan due to COVID-19, crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, and armed conflict.

U.S. citizens wishing to depart Afghanistan should leave as soon as possible on available commercial flights.

quote:

The U.S. Embassy’s ability to provide routine and emergency services to U.S. citizens in Afghanistan is severely limited, particularly outside of Kabul. Evacuation options from Afghanistan are extremely limited due to the lack of infrastructure, geographic constraints, and the volatile security situation.

quote:

If you decide to travel to Afghanistan:

Draft a will and designate appropriate insurance beneficiaries and/or power of attorney.
Discuss a plan with loved ones regarding care/custody of children, pets, property, belongings, non-liquid assets (collections, artwork, etc.), funeral wishes, etc.
Share important documents, login information, and points of contact with loved ones so that they can manage your affairs, if you are unable to return as planned to the United States. Consider signing a power of attorney.
Establish your own personal security plan in coordination with your employer or host organization, or consider consulting with a professional security organization. Carry a communication device and, where possible, ride in armored vehicles.
Notify a trusted person of your travel itinerary and contact information. Avoid discussing your movement plans in public where you can be overheard or with persons who do not have the need to know.
Obtain medical evacuation insurance with a company that operates in Afghanistan and obtain a list of clinics and hospitals that may be used as an evacuation point.
Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency.

Security Alert - April 27, 2021

quote:

Event: On April 27, 2021, the Department of State ordered the departure from U.S. Embassy Kabul of U.S. government employees whose functions can be performed elsewhere due to increasing violence and threat reports in Kabul. The Consular Section in U.S. Embassy Kabul will remain open for limited consular services to U.S. citizens and for Afghan Special Immigrant Visa processing.

The Embassy reminds U.S. citizens that the Travel Advisory for Afghanistan remains Level 4-Do Not Travel due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, armed conflict, and COVID-19. Commercial flight options from Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) remain available and the U.S. Embassy strongly suggests that U.S. citizens make plans to leave Afghanistan as soon as possible. Given the security conditions and reduced staffing, the Embassy’s ability to assist U.S. citizens in Afghanistan is extremely limited.

Actions to Take:

Make plans to depart Afghanistan by commercial airlines
Have evacuation plans that do not rely on U.S. government assistance

This is pathetic

Are they trying to provoke a response from Americans at home against the govt because they didn't get the response they wanted on the 6th?

Because they're about to be a lot of pissed off Americans over this.

I will say this again because it is a travesty and a major diplomatic blunder that has been lost in this shitshow:

-We closed our Airforce base in the middle of the night.

-We took over their airport. That is not our airport, it belongs to the Afghans.

-We halted all of their domestic flights.

-We held them at bay from their airport with rifles.

-We, just yesterday, announced that we would no longer allow Afghans into their airport, whether they are SIVs or not

-Today, the Biden Administration has floated the bullshite line that the Taliban has announced they will no longer allow Afghans access to their airport. No, that is our decision, and we are relying upon the Taliban to enforce it. This Administration has already admitted to "consulting with the Taliban every step of the way". They are shamefully allowing the Taliban to take the flack for their own disastrous failure of a plan.

The decisions being made during this time will undoubtedly come back to haunt us. In a time where we could be building strength and trust in our country, we are choosing to turn our backs. People won't forget that.
