Wow surprised the crazy news hasn't hit this thread yet.
In the middle of the night a ISIS or Al Queda sniper shot and killed a Afgan Army soldier at the airport which set off a friendly fire episode between the US and German troops. At least 4 Afgan soliders (these are Afghan army folks to fled to the airport and are helping the US evacuate people out) were injured.

"This morning at 4.13am, there was an exchange of fire between Afghan guards and unknown assailants at the North Gate of Kabul airport. An Afghan guard was killed, three others injured," said the German army on Twitter.
"American and German forces participated in further exchange of fire," it said, adding that no German soldiers were injured.
Kabul airport has seen chaotic scenes as tens of thousands of foreigners and Afghans seek to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban swept back to power more than a week ago.
The German army has since flown more than 2,500 people out using military planes."

The Taliban wants us out of there, so I don’t think they’ll directly attack us there before August 31st. ISIS though is an actual real concern since all they want is chaos on a mass scale that is detrimental to both sides.

Germany fell into a similar trap that we did making China their most important trading partner in both directions. When Europe goes to shite, Germany will have its own very significant access to Russian energy and China as its #1 trading partner in both directions. They have greatly decreased their reliance on the European block while at the same time controlling it.
History repeats itself and German aggression in Europe will return and that will not align them with the US.
You’re just not putting anything besides money into this equation. Germany is an actual ally of ours. China is not an ally of either of us. Yeah we do a lot of trade with them, but that’s pretty much the only thing stopping us from going to war with China at this point (that and the fear of nuclear holocaust). You just strike me as if you’ve never spoken to German. I’m sorry, but your theory is just stupid.

The European countries have repeatedly warned Biden & his administration that a withdrawal date of 8/31 is going to create utter chaos because they believe there will be a mass stampede by the population to storm the airfields by tens of thousands who will do anything to get on a plane. I think their warnings are based in reality which scares me because I'm concerned about our troops.

Burns conducted face-to-face talks with the Taliban's de facto leader Abdul Ghani Baradar in Kabul on Monday, the Washington Post reported, citing US officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The CIA declined to comment on the report. A spokesperson for the agency told Axios last week that Burns was “fully engaged on Afghanistan.” The CIA chief embarked on a six-day trip to the Middle East, visiting Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, and the West Bank.
The paper did not report any details about the meeting, but the news comes amid concerns that the US will not be able to evacuate all of its nationals and allied Afghans from Kabul by the August 31 deadline for the US troop withdrawal.
The Taliban warned of “consequences” if American soldiers overseeing the evacuation stay beyond the deadline. US President Joe Biden, meanwhile, has refused to rule out that the evacuation may need to continue after August 31.
A White House official told Reuters on Monday that Biden would decide within 24 hours whether to extend evacuations.
Biden admitted that his administration was effectively caught off guard by how quickly Kabul and the majority of Afghanistan fell to the militants. The US military has stepped up evacuations in recent days, enlisting six commercial airliners to help with the airlifts.

A Ukrainian plane that was supposed to evacuate the country's citizens from Afghanistan following the Taliban's takeover of Kabul was hijacked by unknown assailants and, instead, took a different load of passengers to Iran.
The incident, which happened last week, was revealed by Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Yenin, speaking to the Western-funded Hromadske TV on Monday.
"Our plane was hijacked," Yenin explained. "Last Tuesday, we actually had our plane stolen – it flew to Iran with an unknown group of passengers on board, instead of taking Ukrainians out."
He didn't elaborate any further on how the situation with the stolen plane ended, or who orchestrated the maneuver.
Following the hijacking, Kiev failed three more times to evacuate Ukrainian citizens, Yenin explained, noting that passengers were not allowed to enter the airport in Kabul.
However, on Sunday Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba revealed on Twitter that a new attempt had been successful, evacuating 83 people, including 31 Ukrainians and foreigners, overcoming what he called "a million problems." His feel-good tweets failed to include any mention of the hijacking, however.
In the last few weeks, many foreign countries have been trying to get their citizens out of Kabul, following the beginning of the Taliban offensive. The airlifts picked up pace on August 15, when militants from the Taliban entered the capital and declared that they had taken control of the entire nation, including all its major cities and border checkpoints.
Following Yenin's statement, Ukraine's foreign ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko caused confusion by directly contradicting him, denying that any plane had been hijacked.
The Taliban is designated as a terrorist organization by Russia's Ministry of Justice.

I am no good at posting links but a look at the last speech Ceausescu gave before put on trial and both he and his wife were executed is rather astounding to watch. He is giving his speech and the realization when the crowd turns on him is priceless.

I don’t think they’ll still let them extend it, but if we give them 100 billion dollars in cash, they may let Americans go to the airport undisturbed under Taliban protection. That being said dozens of Americans have unfortunately likely been killed by now.

If this is accurate then this would be a massive health issue for Harris. "Anomalous health incident" for those who don't know is what we call "The Havana Syndrome" which is a series of debilitating symptoms that first impacted US intelligence officers and diplomats in Cuba.
